2 General ProceduresAll 13+scholarship testing takes place in the week after the Lent(Spring) Half Term, starting with the academic exams on the first three days,going on to the creative arts on the Thursday and Friday and ending, on theSunday, with sport.16+ Scholarship testing takes place in the November preceding entry. Exactdates are obtainable from the Admissions Registrar.In all the testing, the emphasis is on allowing the candidates an opportunityto demonstrate their strengths. We hope very much that they find theexperience enjoyable.All scholarship testing involves interviews with members of staΩ and theHeadmaster. Again, the emphasis is on putting candidates at ease and allowingthem an opportunity to talk about their enthusiasms. Credit will be given tothose who seem genuinely interested in their subjects, have read widely andcan apply their knowledge to new situations and problems.The College will seek references from the candidate’s present school and itis therefore essential that the candidate’s present Head be informed of theintention to apply for a scholarship.Many prep schools will have copies of blank entry forms available. Formsmay also be obtained from the Admissions O≈ce, or downloaded from theCollege’s website. Application must be by signed hard copy and may not besubmitted electronically.The Headmaster will inform parents of the results of the scholarship tests andexaminations soon after these are taken.academic entry requirementsCandidates who enter for academic awards and who are successful will havesatisfied the academic requirements for entry into the College. If unsuccessfulthe College may or may not waive the need for them to fulfil usual entryrequirements (such as Common Entrance).Candidates for all other scholarships will be required to meet the usualacademic entry standards for the College, whether they are successful in theirscholarships or not. In brief these standards are:^ At 13+, a pass at Common Entrance or in the College’s ownentrance examinations^ At 16+, two b-grade passes and three c-grade passes at gcse or anequivalent standard in other examinationsIn addition, applicants for whom English is not a first language will be requiredto pass language proficiency tests.>3
