This year, the Blank Park Zoo marked an important milestone — the celebrationof its 40th Anniversary. Over the past four decades, the Zoo has grown from asmall children’s Zoo to become one of Iowa’s most highly attended cultural attractionsserving people of all ages.Our nonprofit Foundation is committed to ensuring the health and growth of theBlank Park Zoo as Iowa’s only accredited Zoological facility. We are pleased to note that:• Over 315,000 people visited the Blank Park Zoo in 2006.• Our membership includes citizens from over 40 Iowa counties.• This year’s education programs have served over 81,000 — double thatof the previous year.• The Zoo was named the State of Iowa’s “Best Attraction of the Year” by The IowaDepartment of Economic Development.Our organization’s success is due, in no small part, to our creative, energetic anddedicated staff, along with the strong support of the community.
