As shown in Figure 2, 75 per cent of all trips less than 400m in Melbourne are walked. In <strong>Victoria</strong>’s regional centres, walkingaccounts for 64 per cent of these trips. But as trip lengths increase the proportion of people walking decreases – and vehicletravel becomes the dominant transport choice even among trips as short as 400m-2km.
