<strong>The</strong> second place prize of $100 was shared by Erin Bennett, of St. Joseph's High School, who wrote on <strong>the</strong>Sisters of Mercy, and Cara Tracey Holley, of St. Lewis Academy, Labrador, who told <strong>the</strong> story of <strong>the</strong>American radar base operating in her community in <strong>the</strong> 1950's.Dwane Poole of St. Lewis Academy received honourable mention for his essay on <strong>the</strong> origins of FoxHarbour residents.Cash prizes are provided by <strong>the</strong> Johnson Family Foundation which also pays <strong>the</strong> administrative costs of <strong>the</strong>contest. Book prizes for all <strong>the</strong> winners are provided by Harry Cuff Publications, Jesperson Publishing, andRobinson-Blackmore Printing and Publishing. <strong>The</strong> essay contest is open to all high school students in <strong>the</strong>province.
