They will supervise <strong>and</strong> assist office <strong>and</strong> swim school staff toconduct their duties to a high st<strong>and</strong>ard. The position is responsible for implementation ofprocedures <strong>and</strong> policies on all aspects concerning programs being undertaken in the <strong>Aquatic</strong><strong>Centre</strong>, Gymnasium <strong>and</strong> associated venues.APPOINTMENT TYPEFull time Term Time only (with some casual hours available in school holidays on agreement)REPORTING RELATIONSHIPSReports directly to the Director of Finance <strong>and</strong> Enrolments. Works in conjunction with the <strong>Aquatic</strong><strong>Centre</strong> Manager. Has direct communication Principal, Staff, Suppliers, Parents <strong>and</strong> Students asrequested by the Director of Finance <strong>and</strong> Enrolments to ensure efficient operation of the school.DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSOversight of the Swim School <strong>and</strong> Squad programs• including review/development of programs, training <strong>and</strong> supervision of staff to developskills <strong>and</strong> continually improve the st<strong>and</strong>ard of teaching.• Provide technical advice to staff on all aspects of the Squad <strong>and</strong> Learn To Swim programs.• Supervision of swim classes, swim school instructors, swim coaches, students <strong>and</strong> parentson a daily basis.


• Plan <strong>and</strong> conduct in house swimming workshops for the continued professionaldevelopment <strong>and</strong> education of swim school staff.• <strong>Co</strong>ntinue professional development by attending swimming related courses <strong>and</strong>workshops to stay current with new techniques, skills <strong>and</strong> ideas.• Orientation of new staff members including demonstration of the ‘Danebank SwimProgram’. Obtain <strong>and</strong> maintain the Austswim assessors certificate <strong>and</strong> conduct assessmentson new swim instructors as required.• Obtain <strong>and</strong> maintain pool lifeguard certificate for covering pool supervision <strong>and</strong>emergency response situations at the centre as required.• Supervise or organize supervision of the <strong>Aquatic</strong> <strong>Centre</strong> <strong>and</strong> Gymnasium on school openday each year.• Assess new <strong>and</strong> continuing students for appropriate class placement• Teach Learn to Swim or when required to from time to time.• Be available for swim coaching as a back up should coaches be absent from work on shortnotice.• Administer first aid as required.• Set up pool for appropriate activities <strong>and</strong> functions as required.• Report any broken equipment or pool maintenance issues that may require attention.• Manage or assist in any minor or major incidents that may occur at the centre.• Opening <strong>and</strong> locking of the <strong>Aquatic</strong> <strong>Centre</strong> as required.• <strong>Co</strong>nducting pool tests as required.Supervise <strong>and</strong> assist swim school assistant with daily operational duties.• In conjunction with the Swim School Clerical Assistanto Liaise with students, parents <strong>and</strong> other family who attend the swim schoolto communicate information, answer questions, <strong>and</strong> promote the <strong>Centre</strong> <strong>and</strong>other Programso Maintain the swim school database <strong>and</strong> class rollso Production of term accountsoooo<strong>Co</strong>llection <strong>and</strong> receipt of paymentsProvide customer assistance for over the phone <strong>and</strong> over the counterenquiries regarding swim school, squad swimming <strong>and</strong> other extracurricular activities.Dispute resolution with parents <strong>and</strong> students who attend the swim school.Pick students up from school <strong>and</strong> escort to <strong>and</strong> from the <strong>Aquatic</strong> <strong>Centre</strong> asrequired.• Organizing swim school staff rosters, sourcing new staff as needed, fortnightly payrollinformation, payments etc.• Orientate <strong>and</strong> train new staff at the swim school as required, including child protectionscreening <strong>and</strong> supplying relevant swim school documentation <strong>and</strong> information.• Resolving swim school staff issues, including dispute resolutions.• Ordering of swim equipment as required to enhance learning outcomes, with reference tothe Director of Finance <strong>and</strong> Enrolments.• Ordering of swim school staff uniforms (as required).• Liaise with PDH/PE department <strong>and</strong> Prep with regards to organizing Prep Swimming.• Organizing bookings of outside groups using sporting facilities (St. George ChristianSchool for example)• Record keeping of swim school rolls <strong>and</strong> swim school documents.Develop new sporting programs using school facilitiesPage 2 of 4


• This may be during school holidays <strong>and</strong> before <strong>and</strong> after school for staff <strong>and</strong> students.Programs currently include Swimming, Gymnastics, Tennis, Dancing <strong>and</strong> Cheerleading forstudents <strong>and</strong> Fitball <strong>and</strong> Aqua Aerobics for staff• Liaise with extra subjects teachers <strong>and</strong> coaches regarding details for venue bookings <strong>and</strong>availability, behavioral expectations, supervisory requirements, <strong>and</strong> safe usage ofequipment.• Issue invoices to extra subjects teachers <strong>and</strong> coaches on a term or semester basis <strong>and</strong> adviseSenior Accounts Assistant.• Documentation & production of procedures <strong>and</strong> policies for extra subjects <strong>and</strong> copies ofprocedures <strong>and</strong> policies given to extra subjects teachers <strong>and</strong> coaches.• Arrange staff sporting activities – fit ball, Aqua tone, etc, including organizing <strong>and</strong>payment of instructors, booking of venue, , collecting <strong>and</strong> receipting of fees,• Danebank Water Polo <strong>Co</strong>mpetition – convene competition <strong>and</strong> arrange draw inconsultation with the PDHPE Department.• Abide by the Danebank <strong>Co</strong>de of <strong>Co</strong>nduct at all times• Other matters as my be required from time to time to ensure the smooth running of the<strong>Centre</strong> <strong>and</strong> other programsQUALIFICATIONSREQUIRED• Experienced in swim school operations• A high level of administrative experience including proficiency in Microsoft Word <strong>and</strong>Excel• Customer service <strong>and</strong> cash h<strong>and</strong>ling experience• Excellent people skills• Problem solving skills• Attention to detailREQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS• First Aid Certificate• Austswim Certificate• CPR certificate (updated yearly)• Bronze, Silver or Gold Level Swim <strong>Co</strong>aches License• Austswim assessors certificate (preferred)• Pool Lifeguard certificate (preferred)PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENTWork is varied <strong>and</strong> will require physical ability to carry out swim school activities, walking <strong>and</strong>some carrying (up to 5 kilos).ACKNOWLEDGMENT FOR RECEIPT OF JOB DESCRIPTIONI have received a copy of the Job Description <strong>and</strong> have read <strong>and</strong> underst<strong>and</strong> its contents.Page 3 of 4
