Thereforeall members <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Danebank</strong> community are expected to be courteous and considerate <strong>of</strong>others at all times. Further, it is expected that the conduct <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Danebank</strong> students alwaysreflects the good reputation <strong>of</strong> the <strong>School</strong>. All members <strong>of</strong> the school community are expected tobe responsible for their actions.The <strong>School</strong> has the following expectation <strong>of</strong> students while in the classroom: Be polite Be punctual Bring the correct equipment Respect the person and property <strong>of</strong> others Do your own work to the best <strong>of</strong> your ability Students will stand when a teacher enters the classroomThe <strong>School</strong> has the following expectations <strong>of</strong> students while at school: Late arrivals must report to the <strong>of</strong>fice to be signed in Students are responsible for maintaining litter free school grounds and classrooms. Students are to maintain the standards <strong>of</strong> the Uniform Policy <strong>School</strong> bags are to be kept in lockers at all times Mobile phones and ipods are to be handed into the <strong>Junior</strong> <strong>School</strong> <strong>of</strong>fice each morning Students are to stay within the set boundaries at recess and lunchtime Driveways and parking areas are out <strong>of</strong> bounds.The <strong>School</strong> has the following expectations <strong>of</strong> students during Assembly and Chapel: Attend all chapel services and assemblies Be punctual Participate appropriately as an audience member Enter and exit quietly Stand and sit without talking


The <strong>School</strong> has the following expectations <strong>of</strong> students when travelling to and from school: Students are considerate <strong>of</strong> others travelling in public at all times Students stand up on public transport when necessary to allow members <strong>of</strong> the public tosit down Keep bags away from the doors <strong>of</strong> trains and buses Eating or drinking in school uniform on public transport or in public places is notacceptable unless accompanied by an adult Students should travel directly to and from school and not remain in Westfield orHurstville shops unless accompanied by a parent or guardian or have a noted signed anddated from Mrs Lucas.Consequences <strong>of</strong> Breaches <strong>of</strong> <strong>Code</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Behaviour</strong>When the <strong>Code</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Behaviour</strong> is breached, <strong>Danebank</strong> is committed to:• developing students’ understanding that there are consequences for action• providing the opportunity for students to make restitution• supporting students to make better choices about their behaviour in the future• developing students’ self discipline.The following consequences may result from breaches <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Code</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Behaviour</strong>. Allconsequences are subject to the determination <strong>of</strong> the Principal. <strong>Danebank</strong> does not allowcorporal punishment by any member <strong>of</strong> the <strong>School</strong> community to enforce discipline at the<strong>School</strong>.Expulsion• Possession or use <strong>of</strong> illicit drugs• Possession or use <strong>of</strong> alcohol• Repeated suspension• Thieving at schoolSuspension• Smoking• Truancy from school• Leaving school grounds without permission• Fighting or physical abuse• Forgery• Damage to school or personal property• Verbal abuse towards other students or staff• Serious misbehaviour in public• On-going and persistent bullying• On-going and persistent breaches <strong>of</strong> the Expectations <strong>of</strong> Classroom and <strong>School</strong> behaviourLunchtime Detentions (20 minutes) - Under the class teacher or executive supervision• Not complying with the expectations <strong>of</strong> behaviour for the classroom• Not complying with the expectations <strong>of</strong> behaviour for the <strong>School</strong> and Assemblies and ChapelMaking Amends• Where possible, the nature and content <strong>of</strong> the consequence will focus on the student being ableto make amends for her behaviour (making it right again) without condemnation.• The consequence will focus on assisting the student to make better choices in her futurebehaviour and to develop self discipline.• Therefore the nature <strong>of</strong> the misdemeanour will determine how the detention is served.


Procedures <strong>of</strong> Fairness in Disciplinary ProceduresIt is expected that all <strong>Danebank</strong> staff and students will deal with disciplinary procedures withcompassion, truthfulness, fairness, consistency and equity without malice or condemnation. Theviews <strong>of</strong> all parties will be considered.Any misdemeanour which incurs a serious consequence will be investigated and authenticatedby a member <strong>of</strong> the executive staff who will document all steps in the process <strong>of</strong> theinvestigation. Interviews with the student involved will be conducted by a member <strong>of</strong> theexecutive, in the presence <strong>of</strong> a third party. This, in most cases, will be the Form Patron (orclassroom teacher) whose role will be to support the student. If the misdemeanour issubstantiated as a result <strong>of</strong> the investigation, parents/guardian will be informed by telephone andasked to come to the <strong>School</strong> for an interview with a member <strong>of</strong> the executive. In conjunction withthe parents/guardian, and where appropriate the <strong>School</strong> Counsellor, action which is in the bestinterest <strong>of</strong> both the student involved and the school community will be discussed and resolved.The final decision for the appropriate course <strong>of</strong> action is made by the Principal.(Mrs) M.
