Temple Ner Tamidhas been busy over the summer, with various events suchas a musical Shabbat and hot dog Shabbat, planning for theupcoming year at the Religious School, and planning forthe High Holidays. We're pleased to have Rabbi Zukerhere in our community. While her official start date as ourRabbi is October 1, she's already very involved in the religiouslife here at TNT. I've met with Rabbi Zuker on manyoccasions, and continue to be very proud of the work theRabbi Search Committee did. We found a first-class Rabbiand I'm so excited about working with her over the nextyear.As I really get into my second year as your President, Iagain get very excited about all the great things we're goingto do together this year. Our Temple community is asstrong as ever. There are so many people that love TempleNer Tamid and feel very passionately about our community.I'm one of those people. One of my goals this year is toshare this love and passion with as many people as possible.Why do I love Temple Ner Tamid so much? It's notthe building. It's all of you. We're an extended family.Like any family we may be a bit dysfunctional, but TempleNer Tamid will always be here for me and me for TempleNer Tamid.I truly want to engage every single member of Temple NerTamid to participate in all manner of activities. While servicesare an important part of Temple life, they are not theonly part. If you see something that catches your interest,give it a try. As I tell my son "try it – you'll like it". Thereare also many ways that you can all help out. Sunday through Thursday,evening minyan is at 7:30 pm.Recently, minyan attendees were asked why they like comingto minyan:"When I needed to say Kaddish, there was a minyan presentfor me. I relied on them. Now that I'm done sayingKaddish, I want to ensure that there is a minyan present forothers""I like seeing people every day - we chat before and afterthe service""It has become very meaningful for me to set aside a fewmoments every day to pray and connect to God""My father and his father went to minyan at their Temple -so I feel that I should go too""When I get home at 5pm, it makes for a long night. Minyanat 7:30pm breaks that up, and I get to see people""It's nice to be 'expected' somewhere every day, otherwise Imight feel more lonely"All are invited to participate in weekday minyan at TempleNer Tamid. We ask all congregants to attend at least twicea year. Sisterhood NewsMen’s Club, Irving BurdayShalom,As I sit here writing my first bulletin article I sit andwonder what my first year will hold as president. Iam just settling back into reality after spending twomonths as head nurse at Camp Pembroke. Eventhough I was not around for two months, I was updatedon the amazing card party that was held in August.Kudos to Susan Savy and Beth Hoffman as well astheir committee for running an incredible evening. Wehad over 95 women who came to play mah jong andother games.This year I am sure will be an adventure and I amgrateful for new starts with an incredibly dedicatedgroup of woman who are committed to the mission ofSisterhood and of Temple Ner Tamid. September alwayscomes with a fresh start and new and excitingopportunities for both young and old. Kids are excitedto get back to school and parents are excited to havethem back at school as well. I sit here and can not believeall the new and exciting things going on at TempleNer Tamid. As Septemberrolls around I want to wish all of you L’ Shanah Tovaand a happy and healthy new year. This upcomingyear I am looking forward to working with all levels ofthe Men’s Club to create a full slate of events and activitiesthat will serve and enrich the lives of templemembers, Men’s Club membership, and those in oursurrounding communities. The Men’s Club will continueto focus on those actions that support the holidays,Men’s Club social events and community basedprograms and we look forward to working togetherwith our new Rabbi, the Sisterhood and other templegroups during the upcoming year.As the new president, I look forward to working withthe executive board and board of directors to build uponthe strong foundation that was constructed by ourprior leaders. We will continue to improve and extendthe events and activities that we have traditionallyoverseen and will also strive to add new events thatwill both engage Men’s Clubs participants as well astemple members. To that end, I and the executiveboard will personally reach out to our membership toencourage their participation and we openly welcomeanyone that is interested in joining or contributing tothe Men’s Club.
