The main listed proposals, involving at least one <strong>India</strong>n partner, are 45 (including 55 <strong>India</strong>n organizations),the 25% of the total proposals submitted, while the rejected proposals are the 71% of the total.Focusing on the contracts signed, the highest number of proposals (involving at least an <strong>India</strong>n partner)funded refers also to the International Incoming Fellowships- IIFR. This scheme results the more attractivefor <strong>India</strong>na researchers.EC contributionThe total of EC contributions to projects involving <strong>India</strong>n participants funded under the People Programmeamounts to 709.497 €.CAPACITIESFrom January 2007 to February 2012 a total number of 97 <strong>India</strong>n organisations has been included in thesubmission of 59 proposals.Focusing the analysis to all the 18 mainlisted proposals, the result is a success rate of 31%, <strong>with</strong> a total of38 <strong>India</strong>n applicants mainlisted.However, it is important to note that the above mentioned are aggregate data, and that there aredifferences among the thematic priorities of the Capacities Programme. The Research Infrastructures -RIthemeis at the same time the most attractive for the <strong>India</strong>n organisations (38 applicants in 14 proposalssubmitted) and the most successful (success rate 47%). Also Science in Society and INCO themes are ofinterest for the <strong>India</strong>n organisations (27 and 26 applicants each), <strong>with</strong> a success rate of 42% for INCO and33% for SIS. The Research for the benefit of SMEs are indeed not of interest for the <strong>India</strong>ns (6 applicantsin 6 proposals submitted) and also the success rate equal to 0% reflects it.CAPACITIESThe Capacities programme aims to enhance research and innovation capacities throughout Europeand ensure their optimal use. Its specific goals are to:ӫӫsupport the coherent development of policies;ӫӫcomplement the Cooperation Programme;ӫӫcontribute to EU policies and initiatives in order to improve the coherence and impact ofMember States policies;ӫӫfind synergies <strong>with</strong> regional and cohesion policies, the Structural Funds, education andtraining programmes and the Competitiveness and Innovation Programme (CIP).172
