RECREATIONAL AND CULTURAL CENTERRULES AND REGULATIONSSECTION 1: MEMBER AND GUEST RESPONSIBILITYA. Members <strong>and</strong> guests are expected to comply with the <strong>rules</strong> <strong>and</strong><strong>regulations</strong> governing the Recreational <strong>and</strong> Cultural Center.B. Members are financially liable for any damage to or theft of theCenter’s property done by themselves, their family members, or theirguests.C. Members or guests may not remove or borrow Center property withoutthe prior knowledge <strong>and</strong> approval of management.D. Failure to comply with the stated <strong>rules</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>regulations</strong> may result indisciplinary action, including, but not limited to, suspension ofprivileges for a specific period of time.SECTION 2: GUESTSA. A guest is defined as any non-member. Guests include personssponsored by a member, SLVPOA sponsored visitors, <strong>and</strong> marketingguests.B. Guests are subject to the normal <strong>rules</strong> <strong>and</strong> fees as established by theSLVPOA Board of Directors.SECTION 3: GENERAL STANDARDSA. The Center Management Staff will h<strong>and</strong>le all complaints.B. Abusive language will not be tolerated in the Center or at any activitiesit may sponsor.C. Unruly patrons will be asked to leave the premise by the CenterManagement Staff. If repeated incidences of this behavior continue,the SLV Board of Directors may revoke privileges.D. Any member signing for a locker or sports equipment is responsiblefor replacement cost if the item is broken or not returned.SECTION 4: DRESS CODEA. Casual attire is generally the accepted st<strong>and</strong>ard. Members <strong>and</strong> guestsshall at all times wear clean, appropriate clothing. Men are required towear shirts at all times. Shorts are permitted. Bare feet are permittedin pool or patio areas only.B. All users must wear a warm-up, cover-up or other type of outerclothing in the Center except the pool <strong>and</strong> patio areas.C. Swimming Pool/Sauna/Spa/Patio Areas: Appropriate swimwear. Nocut-offs, street clothing or shoes are permitted in the pool or spa. Tanktops, leotards, tee shirts <strong>and</strong> sp<strong>and</strong>ex are permitted around the areas.No street shoes are allowed in the pool area.D. Fitness Room: Athletic shoes <strong>and</strong> customary workout/fitness clothingmust be worn. Tee shirts must be worn along with shorts, slacks or1


warm-ups. Tank tops, workout, fitness, biker or tennis shorts areacceptable.E. Tennis Courts: No street shoes are allowed. Tennis or court shoesonly. Tee shirts <strong>and</strong> tank tops are acceptable.F. Bowling Lanes: All bowlers must wear bowling shoes <strong>and</strong> propercasual attire will be worn.SECTION 5: INDOOR SWIMMING POOLA. Swimming is at your own risk.B. Parents/Gr<strong>and</strong>parents must accompany their children/gr<strong>and</strong>children.Under no circumstances are children under the age of 16 permitted inthe pool without adult supervision.C. Persons using the pool must take a shower before entering the water.D. Running, diving, <strong>and</strong> rough play are not permitted.E. Throwing balls <strong>and</strong> other objects in the pool is not permitted.F. Persons under the influence of alcohol or drugs should not use thepool.G. Babies not potty trained must wear swimmer diapers. Swimmerdiapers can be purchased at the AC front desk.H. Persons with communicable diseases are not allowed in the pool.I. Persons with skin, eye, ear, or nasal infections are not allowed in thepool.J. Food <strong>and</strong> beverages, except water, are not allowed in the pool area.K. Spitting or blowing nose in the pool will not be tolerated.L. Street shoes are not permitted in the pool area.M. First aid kit is located in the pool office along with an emergencyphone.N. The pool area must be vacated during lightning storms.SECTION 6: SPA/SAUNAA. Persons suffering from heart disease, diabetes, high or low bloodpressure <strong>and</strong> persons using anticoagulants, antihistamines,vasoconstrictors, vasodilators, stimulants, hypnotic narcotics, ortranquilizers should consult with their physician before using the spa.B. Children under the age twelve (12) are absolutely not permitted in thesauna—with or without an adult. It is too dangerous.C. Children under the age of six (6) are absolutely not permitted in thespa—with or without an adult. It is too dangerous.D. The use of the spa while under the influence of alcohol should beavoided.E. Pregnant women should not use the spa without consulting theirphysician.F. Persons should spend no more than fifteen (15) minutes in the spa atany one (1) time.2


G. The maximum temperature recommended by the South CarolinaDepartment of Health <strong>and</strong> Environment Control for any spa is 104degrees F.SECTION 7: OUTDOOR POOL & KIDDIE POOLA. Swimming is at your own risk.B. Parents/Gr<strong>and</strong>parents must accompany their children/gr<strong>and</strong>children.Under no circumstances are children under the age of 16 permitted inthe pools without adult supervision.C. Small children should not be left in Kiddie Pool unattended.D. Persons using the pool must take a shower before entering the water.E. Running, diving, <strong>and</strong> rough play are not permitted.F. Throwing balls <strong>and</strong> other objects in the pool is not permitted.G. Floats <strong>and</strong> toys are permitted in the pool, but consideration must begiven to others in the pool.H. Persons under the influence of alcohol or drugs should not use thepool.I. Babies not potty trained must wear swimmer diapers. Swimmerdiapers can be purchased at the front desk.J. Persons with communicable diseases are not allowed in the pool.K. Persons with skin, eye, ear, or nasal infections are not allowed in thepool.L. Food <strong>and</strong> beverages are permitted on the pool deck.M. No glass of any kind may be brought to the pool deck.N. Spitting or blowing nose in the pool will not be tolerated.O. First aid kit is located on the wall between the restrooms.P. Smoking is not permitted on the pool deck.Q. The pools must be vacated during lightning storms.SECTION 8: FITNESS ROOMA. No food or drink other than water is allowed in the fitness room.B. No gym bags allowed in the fitness room.C. Participants are allowed to use treadmills, exercise bicycles <strong>and</strong>ellipticals for a maximum of twenty minutes when others are waitingfor the equipment.D. Proper fitness attire is required (see Section 4D).E. All equipment h<strong>and</strong>les must be wiped off after use with paper towels<strong>and</strong> spray cleaner.F. Televisions must be kept on the same channel.G. If you wish to change the channel on the televisions, please becourteous of others.H. All free weights must be returned to the weight rack when finished.SECTION 9: BOWLING LANESA. All bowlers must wear bowling shoes.3


B. No food or drinks allowed in bowlers seating area. It is allowed in thearea located behind the lanes at designated tables <strong>and</strong> chairs.C. Practice will consist of one (1) shadow ball per line (no pins). Duringleague play, bowlers will be allowed five (5) minutes of shadowbowling before the start of the league.D. Bowlers will be limited to three (3) lines of bowling if others arewaiting during scheduled open bowling.E. Proper bowling attire will be required (see Section 4F).F. Personal bowling balls cannot be left in the bowling alley. However, abowling locker may be rented for a two-year period.SECTION 10: LOCKER ROOMSA. Lockers may be used on a daily basis or can be rented for a two-yearperiod.B. The Center will provide a combination lock for members use on adaily basis.C. Members are expected to furnish their own towels.SECTION 11: MULTI-PURPOSE ROOMA. No one will be allowed to operate the sound system without theassistance of an attendant.B. Permission <strong>and</strong> supervision for moving tables <strong>and</strong> chairs must beobtained from the Center staff.C. Operation of the h<strong>and</strong>icap chair lift is allowed by Center staff only.SECTION 12: MEETING ROOMSA. Permission <strong>and</strong> supervision for moving furniture must be obtainedfrom the Center staff.B. Members are asked to clean up after themselves when finished withuse of the rooms.C. Media equipment (TV, VCR, Overhead Projector, Screen, etc.) mustbe reserved prior to use.SECTION 13: TENNIS COURTSA. Courts may be reserved one (1) week in advance.B. Player time is limited to one <strong>and</strong> a half (1 ½) hours when others arewaiting for the courts.C. Player time is increased to two (2) hours for Sanctioned TennisGroups.D. Players are required to brush clay courts <strong>and</strong> run the lines after eachuse.E. Street shoes are not allowed on the courts. Tennis or court shoes only.F. Proper tennis attire will be required (see Section 4E).4


SECTION 14: HORSESHOE THROWING PITSA. Pits may be reserved one (1) week in advance.B. Player time is limited to one <strong>and</strong> a half (1 ½) hours when others arewaiting for the pits.SECTION 15: PAVILION AREAA. Pavilion area must be reserved at least one (1) week in advance <strong>and</strong>must be reserved with the Center staff.B. The area is designated for both small <strong>and</strong> large groups. Small groupscan reserve the pavilion, but not exclusively. Large groups of fifty(50) or more have exclusive reservation rights.C. Personal food <strong>and</strong> alcoholic beverages are allowed for members uponapproval of the Center management staff.D. SLV Food Service must do catering.SECTION 16: BOCCE COURTSA. Courts <strong>and</strong> equipment are available for open play during most times ofthe year.B. Courts are closed to open play during spring <strong>and</strong> Fall Bocce seasonsduring League hours.C. Bocce equipment may be checked out at the front desk for home useexcept during spring <strong>and</strong> Fall League season. Equipment should bereturned within two (2) days.D.
