Welcome toTrinitySchool of Natural HealthTrinity School of Natural Health was founded by Dr. Wendell Whitman in l991 to offer professional programs of study in thenatural health field leading to non-traditional designations or degrees. Up until that time, very few educational institutionsmade home study courses available. Dr. Whitman saw the need for this valuable information to reach the public so he createdan affordable and available way for people to learn—he founded Trinity School of Natural Health. The courses of studywere specifically designed to integrate the total person in mind, body and spirit; each course building on the next to createa complete and healthy lifestyle. Today Trinity provides a solid education for students to establish their own professionalpractice and bring much needed healthy alternatives to their communities.Let me introduce myself. I’m Julie Whitman Kline, Dr. Whitman’s daughter. For 20 years I worked alongside my Dad in hismany business ventures and causes. To this day, I feel his fire and sense of duty as we continue the vision and adapt to thechanging landscape of health care in this country. Since my father’s passing, I’ve become immersed in all the businesses, including Trinity. One thing I know for sure is that people are continually looking for ways to have a happier, healthier andmore meaningful life. Trinity School of Natural Health has carefully tailored programs of study designed to meet that need.To think that we’re back to where we started hundreds of years ago in natural health education is amazing. These are excitingtimes we are living in; more and more people are becoming receptive to alternative health. Many of our students are seriousabout sharing their knowledge with others. Today some of our graduates are published authors and are on the lecture circuit.Thomas Edison said, “The doctor of the future will give no medicine, but will interest his patient in the care of the human frame,in diet and in the cause and prevention of disease.”We invite you to join us on a journey of education and enrichment and welcome you to the Trinity School of Natural Health family.Cordially,Julie Whitman Kline, DirectorTrinity School of Natural Health

Health STUDIESThe word “doctor” comes from the Latin word ‘docere’ meaning ‘to teach.’ Naturopaths teach natural ways to enhancegood health, optimal wellness and encourage longevity. The Naturopathic approach is holistic and focuses on maintainingwellness with an emphasis on disease prevention. We emphasize creating a lifestyle which includes pure water, clean air, wholesome food, proper diet and nutrition, exercise, proper living, appropriate rest, right thinking, absence from toxic substances, body ecology, effective management of stressand a number of other natural practices which lead to the balanced living concept. Only those who agree with this philosophyshould apply to Trinity School of Natural Health. We believe that physical health is primarily a reflection of God’s universal lawof cause and effect. How we care for our bodies is both a physical and spiritual issue that impacts our health and the healthof our offspring. In cases where health principles have been violated, the only true “cure” is for the body to restore its ownprotective mechanisms by removing those physical and spiritual roadblocks that hinder restoration and/or healing. Coursestudies in Naturopathy teach practices that build immunity, improve mental health and enhance overall body functions.Trinity School of Natural Health offers training that is to be used for an individual’s own personal development. With discretion,an individual may be able to use this knowledge to educate others.Christian Ministry STUDIESWe believe the Bible to be a great source of teaching and the final authority on spiritual matters. For these reasons, weemphasize the knowledge found in the Scriptures to create a spiritual foundation. Because of the inherent spiritual naturewithin each of us, there’s a need to be spiritually grounded and knowledgeable when analyzing any health issue, whetherit be physical, emotional or spiritual. Trinity School of Natural Health offers training that is to be used for an individual’s ownpersonal development. With discretion, an individual may be able to use this knowledge to educate others.www.TrinitySchool.org • 1-800-428-04085

Classical NaturopathyA classical Naturopath specializes in wellness. That is to say teaching clients howapplying natural lifestyle approaches can act to facilitate the body’s healing andhealth building potential. The classical Naturopath does not undertake to diagnose ortreat disease but recognizes that the majority of sub-health conditions are cumulativeeffects. Also, the underlying cause of disease is improper diet, unhealthy habits andenvironmental factors that cause biological imbalances leading to a weakening ofthe body’s defenses and subsequent breakdown in health. The practice of classicalNaturopathy is not considered the practice of medicine and is legal in all 50 states;however, some states have made Naturopathy illegal unless licensed. This isbecause legislature is grouping classical Naturopaths with Naturopathic physicians.Naturopathic physicians have a 4-year degree that includes pharmacology and minorsurgery, which should require a license. The practice of classical Naturopathy is recognized as a common occupation at thefederal level (U. S. Congress 1928, 1929, 1930 and 30 Federal Court rulings between 1958and 1978) and in such a profession is protected under the 9th and 14th Amendmentsof the U. S. Constitution. Several states have also made this stipulation either by statuteor in the Courts. What medical doctors call diseases are only symptoms of a greater underlying problem.Disease is nothing more than a manifestation of our body trying to correct imbalances.Imbalances due to faulty nutritional patterns, improper rest, stress management andother lifestyle considerations, which over time, result in a weakening of the body. By thetime disease appears on the scene it is very late in the game. Our body tells us early on when there is a problem and we can either respond tothis message or try to suppress the symptoms that the body uses to tell us there isa problem. You can take ibuprofen or other drugs to suppress the symptoms andthey will help for a short time. However, unless the underlying problem is corrected, eventually the symptoms will no longer be helped by these drugs and one will needto take stronger and stronger drugs to quiet the body’s message. If the underlyingproblem has not been addressed, the body will begin to break down structurally. At thistime modern medicine is finally capable of diagnosing that something is really wrongand offer interventions to fix the structure, but still medical doctors fail to address theunderlying problem.Naturopathy concentrates on identifying destructive aspects in lifestyles that leadto imbalances. Before symptoms manifest and long before a diagnosis can berendered, these destructive aspects of our lifestyle can be identified and corrected.Once corrected, the body automatically corrects itself. Diagnosing disease and illnessis totally unnecessary to correcting the underlying problems that result in diseaseand illness. A true healer does not waste his time concentrating on naming diseasesbut rather on identifying those underlying factors that if not addressed result in themanifestation of disease and illness. These factors can be identified and correctedlong before it is even possible to make any diagnosis. Even after a diagnosis is madethe same concepts of healing used by classical Naturopaths are equally effectivebecause once balance is restored the body automatically heals itself.6 Trinity School of Natural Health • Course Catalog
