Individually issued fire retardant coveralls traditionally identifies aircrew with unique flyingduties. All aircrew members will have sleeves rolled down to the wrist while engaged in in-flight duties. Aircrew andnon-aircrew personnel are authorized flight clothing under TA 016.A3.1.1. The flight uniform may be worn anywhere on an ANG installation as long as it is worn IAW this directive andunit supplements.A3.1.2. Flight clothing may be worn off-base under the same restrictions as the BDU.A3.2. Headgear:A3.2.1. Flight cap will be worn IAW AFI 36-2903.A3.2.2. Organizational baseball cap may be worn as prescribed by unit supplement.A3.2.3. Navy Watch Cap (knit). May be authorized by the installation commander during cold weather.A3.3. Neckwear. Installation commanders will prescribe the wear of neckwear in the unit supplement. Neckwearincludes scarves, turtleneck shirts, and dickies. Colors and patterns to be prescribed by the commander. Scarvesmust be professional looking and standardized (size, method of wear, etc.) throughout the unit.A3.4. Rank Insignia. Officers have the option of wearing subdued insignia or nonmetallic insignia which may becovered by clear plastic; however, safety requirements must be met. Rank will be worn approximately 5/8 inches fromseam, centered on shoulder. Unit supplements to this publication will standardize insignia wear for unit personnel.A3.5. Air Crew Style Name Patch (ASNP). The ASNP will be unit standardized and will be worn centered on the leftbreast of the flight suit or flight jacket. It may be black leather or fabric; it may be no larger than 2 by 4 inches in size.Authorized specialty badges and other written identification will be in block letters in silver or subdued color,embossed, or embroidered thereon. Specialty badges will be centered near the top. The name of the wearer will becentered under the specialty badges (unit supplement may authorize first name, initials, or common nicknamesprovided they are in good taste. e.g., “SAMUEL P. JONES,” “SAM JONES,” “S. JONES,” “ACE JONES,” OR“JONES”). ASNP may be attached by velcro and may be covered by clear plastic.A3.5.1. Unique unit ASNPs can be worn only at home station, when addressed in unit supplements.A3.5.2. Officers. The bottom line will be centered under the name and will consist of the member’s rank and “USAF.”A3.5.3. Airmen. The bottom line will be centered under the name and will consist of the member’s rank abbreviationand “USAF.”A3.6. Gaining MAJCOM Emblems. Gaining MAJCOM emblems will be worn centered above the right breast pocketof the flight suit and centered on the right breast of the flight jacket. May be attached by velcro.A3.7. Unit/Service Insignia. Distinctive wing, group, squadron, center, numbered Air Force, skill weapon system,US flag or other unique emblems may be worn on the left or right sleeve as standardized and prescribed by the unitsupplement. Emblems will be worn no lower than 1 inch from shoulder seam and may be attached by velcro. Eithersubdued or vivid emblems/patches may be worn on the flight uniform.A3.8. Flight Jacket. Either the Nomex or the leather A-2 flight jacket may be worn with the flight suit.

Optional jungle boots may be authorizedfor aircrew personnel at the discretion of the installation commander.A3.10. Other Standard Flight Clothing. Gloves, helmets, and other flight clothing will be worn as prescribed in unitsupplements.
