ANG/MPP will establish an Air National Guard Uniform Board (governed <strong>by</strong> <strong>NGB</strong>OM <strong>36</strong>-<strong>2903</strong>) to review recommended uniform changes before forwarding <strong>the</strong>m to <strong>the</strong> Air Force Uniform Board. Anyrecommendations disapproved will be returned to <strong>the</strong> initiator with an explanation for <strong>the</strong> disapproval.7.2.3. (ADDED) (ANG). AFI <strong>36</strong>-<strong>2903</strong>/ANGSUP 1 10 October 1996 5Attachment 3 (ADDED) (ANG)FLIGHT UNIFORMA3.1. Flight Suit. Individually issued fire retardant coveralls traditionally identifies aircrew with unique flyingduties. All aircrew members will have sleeves rolled down to <strong>the</strong> wrist while engaged in in-flight duties. Aircrew <strong>and</strong>non-aircrew personnel are authorized flight clothing under TA 016.A3.1.1. The flight uniform may be worn anywhere on an ANG installation as long as it is worn IAW this directive <strong>and</strong>unit supplements.A3.1.2. Flight clothing may be worn <strong>of</strong>f-base under <strong>the</strong> same restrictions as <strong>the</strong> BDU.A3.2. Headgear:A3.2.1. Flight cap will be worn IAW AFI <strong>36</strong>-<strong>2903</strong>.A3.2.2. Organizational baseball cap may be worn as prescribed <strong>by</strong> unit supplement.A3.2.3. Navy Watch Cap (knit). May be authorized <strong>by</strong> <strong>the</strong> installation comm<strong>and</strong>er during cold wea<strong>the</strong>r.A3.3. Neckwear. Installation comm<strong>and</strong>ers will prescribe <strong>the</strong> wear <strong>of</strong> neckwear in <strong>the</strong> unit supplement. Neckwearincludes scarves, turtleneck shirts, <strong>and</strong> dickies. Colors <strong>and</strong> patterns to be prescribed <strong>by</strong> <strong>the</strong> comm<strong>and</strong>er. Scarvesmust be pr<strong>of</strong>essional looking <strong>and</strong> st<strong>and</strong>ardized (size, method <strong>of</strong> wear, etc.) throughout <strong>the</strong> unit.A3.4. Rank Insignia. Officers have <strong>the</strong> option <strong>of</strong> wearing subdued insignia or nonmetallic insignia which may becovered <strong>by</strong> clear plastic; however, safety requirements must be met. Rank will be worn approximately 5/8 inches fromseam, centered on shoulder. Unit supplements to this publication will st<strong>and</strong>ardize insignia wear for unit personnel.A3.5. Air Crew Style Name Patch (ASNP). The ASNP will be unit st<strong>and</strong>ardized <strong>and</strong> will be worn centered on <strong>the</strong> leftbreast <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> flight suit or flight jacket. It may be black lea<strong>the</strong>r or fabric; it may be no larger than 2 <strong>by</strong> 4 inches in size.Authorized specialty badges <strong>and</strong> o<strong>the</strong>r written identification will be in block letters in silver or subdued color,embossed, or embroidered <strong>the</strong>reon. Specialty badges will be centered near <strong>the</strong> top. The name <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> wearer will becentered under <strong>the</strong> specialty badges (unit supplement may authorize first name, initials, or common nicknamesprovided <strong>the</strong>y are in good taste. e.g., “SAMUEL P. JONES,” “SAM JONES,” “S. JONES,” “ACE JONES,” OR“JONES”). ASNP may be attached <strong>by</strong> velcro <strong>and</strong> may be covered <strong>by</strong> clear plastic.A3.5.1. Unique unit ASNPs can be worn only at home station, when addressed in unit supplements.A3.5.2. Officers. The bottom line will be centered under <strong>the</strong> name <strong>and</strong> will consist <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> member’s rank <strong>and</strong> “USAF.”A3.5.3. Airmen. The bottom line will be centered under <strong>the</strong> name <strong>and</strong> will consist <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> member’s rank abbreviation<strong>and</strong> “USAF.”A3.6. Gaining MAJCOM Emblems. Gaining MAJCOM emblems will be worn centered above <strong>the</strong> right breast pocket<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> flight suit <strong>and</strong> centered on <strong>the</strong> right breast <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> flight jacket. May be attached <strong>by</strong> velcro.A3.7. Unit/Service Insignia. Distinctive wing, group, squadron, center, numbered Air Force, skill weapon system,US flag or o<strong>the</strong>r unique emblems may be worn on <strong>the</strong> left or right sleeve as st<strong>and</strong>ardized <strong>and</strong> prescribed <strong>by</strong> <strong>the</strong> unitsupplement. Emblems will be worn no lower than 1 inch from shoulder seam <strong>and</strong> may be attached <strong>by</strong> velcro. Ei<strong>the</strong>rsubdued or vivid emblems/patches may be worn on <strong>the</strong> flight uniform.A3.8. Flight Jacket. Ei<strong>the</strong>r <strong>the</strong> Nomex or <strong>the</strong> lea<strong>the</strong>r A-2 flight jacket may be worn with <strong>the</strong> flight suit.

Optional jungle boots may be authorizedfor aircrew personnel at <strong>the</strong> discretion <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> installation comm<strong>and</strong>er.A3.10. O<strong>the</strong>r St<strong>and</strong>ard Flight Clothing. Gloves, helmets, <strong>and</strong> o<strong>the</strong>r flight clothing will be worn as prescribed in unitsupplements.
