<strong>YCAT</strong> Smart Card Fare Collection SystemThe <strong>YCAT</strong> bus service has launched a program using smart card technology for all<strong>YCAT</strong> buses operating in <strong>Yuma</strong> <strong>County</strong>. The electronic Smart Card can be used to payyour bus fare without the need for cash or coins. It makes travel and fare payment onbuses more convenient for students. Simply load the quantity of trips onto your SmartCard and start riding! The new cards will be convenient for students – a maximum of200 trips can be loaded at one time for a $175.00 fee. Additional trips can be loaded atno additional cost for that semester.“The <strong>YCAT</strong> SmartCard Bus FareSystem is here!4. Is there a charge for the new SmartCard? There is no charge for thenew Smart Cards. Riders will onlypay for the trips that are added tothe Card.5. How does the Smart Card system work?Each Smart Card reader has aninternal antenna that connects tothe system when customers “tap”the card reader. The Smart Cardautomatically recognizes a validpass and deducts each trip. Eachcard is re-loadable each semester atparticipating educational facilities.6. How many trips can be added to thenew Smart Card? A minimum of 10and a maximum of 200 trips can beadded to your Smart Card. ForAWC students, the card can receivea maximum of 200 trips at thesemester price of $175.00.Additional trips can be loaded at noadditional cost during thatsemester.7. Can I share my Smart Card withfriends or family? Each card isallowed only one use per boarding.What this means is that ifyou use your Smart Card toboard a bus, you cannothand your card to anotherrider. Riders will need theirown Smart Card.8. How do I purchase a new<strong>YCAT</strong> Smart Card? You canpurchase the new SmartCard during the semester atAWC or other participatingeducational facilities.
