Mrs. <strong>Honeycutt</strong> was born January 9, 1912 in Harnett Countydaughter of the late James "Jim" Hodges and Bessie Neighbors Hodges. Funeral services will beheld Sunday at 3 p.m. at Black's Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Frank Danielsofficiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.Surviving: husband, Jack Alphonzo <strong>Honeycutt</strong> of the home; son, Jackie Ray <strong>Honeycutt</strong> of Apex;brothers James Worth Hodges of Concord and George Robert Hodges of West Hollywood, CA;sisters, Nina Ritchie of Concord, Ala Rose of Benson, Ollie Williams of Dunn and Ila Wells ofMurrieta, CA; grandchildren, Julie Lynn <strong>Honeycutt</strong> and Courtney Blair.The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Saturday at the Cromartie-Miller & Lee Funeral Homeand at other times at the home.Mary Elvia Jones SmithNews & Observer, The (Raleigh, NC)February 12, 2007Mrs. Mary Elvia Jones Smith, formerly of the OakdaleCommunity in West Raleigh, died Saturday, February 10, 2007at Cary Health and Rehabilitation Center in Cary, NC at age106. Visitation will be at Ephesus Baptist Church, 6767Hillsborough Street, Raleigh, NC on Wednesday, February 14that 10:00 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m.Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Smith'sbody will lie in state at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home in Caryfrom 8:00-5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.She was born in Pleasant Grove Township, Johnston County,NC, on May 17, 1900 the daughter and second child of CharlieJohnson and Mary Eliza <strong>Honeycutt</strong> Jones. She attended publicschools in Johnston and Wake counties before moving toSmithfield with her parents in 1914. Mrs. Smith was baptizedinto the First Baptist Church in Smithfield in 1917. In 1920, sheand her parents moved to Raleigh and she took a sales positionwith W.T. Grant Co. She remained with Grant until 1924 when she became a telephone operatorwith Southern Bell.
