Today, the name ‚Steinbeis‘ is associated with one <strong>of</strong> the<br />

most successful knowledge-transfer systems in the world.<br />

Our eponym Ferdin<strong>and</strong> von Steinbeis (1807-1893) applied<br />

his great talent <strong>and</strong> ingenuity to modernizing German<br />

industry during his era.<br />

At the same time, he never forgot the entrepreneurial side<br />

<strong>of</strong> things. He successfully promoted <strong>business</strong> startups <strong>and</strong><br />

was one <strong>of</strong> the first German industrialists to apply inspirations<br />

from other countries to his own work in order to<br />

develop <strong>international</strong> competitiveness.<br />

Above all, however, his focus was on the people in companies.<br />

He was a tireless proponent <strong>of</strong> investing in employee<br />

education <strong>and</strong> created one <strong>of</strong> the most modern training<br />

systems in the country.<br />
