<strong>2010</strong> annual report7<strong>2010</strong> HighlightsIDB BOARD OF DIRECTORS• LTG William E. Mortensen, USA (Ret.) Chairman and CEO, Mortensenand Associates, and <strong>for</strong>mer Deputy Commanding General, U.S.Army Materiel Command, joined the IDB Board in June <strong>2010</strong>.• Mr. Rye Barcott, Co-Founder of Carolina <strong>for</strong> Kibera, Chapel Hill,North Carolina, and Associate at Duke Energy, also joined the IDBBoard in June.IDB EXECUTIVE FELLOWS• IDB inducted five new Executive Fellows as the class of <strong>2010</strong>–2011in September. The Executive Fellows Induction Dinner was held atthe U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Washington, DC, and includeddistinguished guests Senator Richard Burr and Congressmen DavidPrice and Bob Etheridge.IDB CORPORATE• On behalf of the IDB, President Mark Cramer received the EmployerSupport <strong>for</strong> the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) Patriot Award in July.The ESGR Patriot Award recognizes private sector employers whoare especially supportive and understanding of their employees’service in the National Guard or Reserves.LOGISTICS AND TECHNOLOGY• LOGTECH Advanced grew to six offerings in <strong>2010</strong>—leading to arecord 255 Advanced participants during the year.• MBA Cohort V graduated in December. Graduates were treated toa joint commencement message from LTG Mitchell H. Stevenson,Deputy Chief of Staff Logistics, G-4, U.S. Army; LtGen Frank A.Panter, Deputy Commandant <strong>for</strong> Installations and Logistics, U.S.Marine Corps; and RADM Sean F. Crean, Deputy Commander,Naval Supply Systems Command.• IDB and the LOGTECH SME Board developed a <strong>for</strong>mal mechanism<strong>for</strong> recognizing return on investment achieved through theapplication of lessons learned in the LOGTECH Advanced Program.The first General William G.T. Tuttle Jr. Award <strong>for</strong> <strong>Business</strong> Acumenin <strong>Defense</strong> and Government will be awarded in 2011.LEADERSHIP AND ORGANIZATIONAL TRANSFORMATION• In May, DAELP Cohort VII graduated its largest class to date—23 members—including two private-sector students. This wasfollowed by DAELP VIII, which began in November with a record 24students.• IDB delivered the second senior executive seminar in the “Leadershipand Innovation: Operators Driving Solutions” series <strong>for</strong> the DoD’s<strong>Business</strong> Trans<strong>for</strong>mation Agency with the endorsement of the ViceChairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff.STABILIZATION AND ECONOMIC RECONSTRUCTION• CSER, working closely with the Logistics Directorate, the JointStaff (J4), developed and delivered the first in a series of seminarsblending two of IDB’s core competencies. The Seminar on LogisticsCooperation <strong>for</strong> Stabilization and Reconstruction was very wellreceived and featured a presentation by JCS J4 LTG KathleenGainey.• In August, CSER delivered what we expect to be the finalpredeployment roundtable conference <strong>for</strong> an Iraq-bound unit. Thethree-day event helped prepare North Carolina’s own XVIII AirborneCorps <strong>for</strong> its role of overseeing the transition of authority to the Iraqisand U.S. Government responsibilities to civilian agencies by the endof 2011.PRIVATE SECTOR• IDB welcomed program participants in <strong>2010</strong> <strong>for</strong> the first time fromNorthrop Grumman, AAI, and Mack Trucks, all long-time corporateresidency sponsors.• An unprecedented number of corporate sponsors hosted DAELPresidencies in <strong>2010</strong>, 35 sponsors overall, with 14 new sponsors.LIFE CYCLE SYSTEMS AND ENGINEERING• The Life Cycle Executive Leadership Program (LCELP) enjoyed twosuccessful courses in <strong>2010</strong> while development of the Master of LifeCycle Systems Engineering (MLCSE) degree program continued.Governor Martin and Senator Richard Burr at theIDB Executive Fellows Induction Dinner
