He/she also participatesfully in quality improvement activities and other medical staff activities as assigned within theMedical Center.OUTLINE OF ESSENTIAL <strong>JOB</strong> RESPONSIBILITIES/FUNCTIONS TO INCLUDE BUTNOT LIMITED TO:• Provision of care to all neurosurgical patients directly or by consultation.• Full participation in developing and providing appropriate staff education and training.• Full participation in ANMC quality improvement and quality assurance activities.• Full participation in ANMC revenue and utilization review activities.• Other secondary duties, as primary duties permit, in support of host department as determined byhost Service Center Medical Director.QUALIFICATIONS:• M.D. or D.O.• Board eligible or certified by American Board of Neurological Surgery; if board certified,certification currently valid and renewed (if needed) prior to expiration• Meet all provider qualifications required in support of ANMC’s Level II Trauma Centercertification by American College of Surgeons.• Valid and unrestricted Alaska Medical LicenseKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:• Must maintain CME to meet institutional and state licensing requirements and Trauma Programrequirements.• Must have sufficient clinical knowledge and experience to provide clinical competence and meetinstitutional standards of care.• Must have interpersonal skills to deal harmoniously staff, patients, and family members.• Must have demonstrated ability to meet responsibilities of the position.


WORKING CONDITIONS:• Exposure to communicable disease is frequent – fecal, contact, airborne, blood and body fluidsources.• Screening and/or immunization for measles, mumps, hepatitis B, varicella, TB, influenza andothers may be required or made available.• Significant risk of sharp/needle injuries with or without blood contamination.• Will be required to adhere to OSHA and accident prevention programs sponsored by the medicalcenter.• Will be required to work holidays, weekend days and/or nights without immediate compensatorytime off (contiguous to period worked).WORKING ENVIRONMENT:• Must be able to physically respond during regular duty hours and when on-call by promptappearance at required location.• Hospital safety and infection control programs in place to reduce risk to employee• Potential for lifting injury can be reduced by use of a lift team to assist patient positioning.• Potential for periods of up to 24 hours continuous intense and demanding physical and mentalstress associated with clinical workload.AGE SPECIFIC:The physician must be able to provide age appropriate clinical care to a diverse patient population.NATIVE PREFERENCE: Under P.L. 93-638, as amended, the company may pursue a policy ofNative preference in hiring, contracting, and training.This job description is not an employment agreement or contract.
