LFM ServerImport laser scan data and interface with all major3D CAD packages. As 3D laser scanning has become easier and more affordable ithas become the technology of choice for ‘as-is’ data capture. LFMServer enables users to maximise the value of the rich informationthat laser scanning generates.LFM Server is the most advanced solution available for accessingpre-registered laser scan data and working with it directly in 3D CADsystems. It is simple to use and offers unrivalled performance andfunctionality. There are many different 3D laser scanners and 3D CAD systems in usetoday. LFM Server has been developed to provide users with maximumfreedom of choice of both scanning and design systems. It can readunstructured data from various scanner types; not only terrestrial laserscanners but also hand-held, mobile or aerial scanners.Designed to work with data from even the highest-resolution scanner,LFM Server enables users to work with datasets of unlimited size andexploit photorealistic, 360 o BubbleViews.Business BenefitsOpen on the inputLFM Server can read a widevariety of 3D data captureformatsOpen on the outputLFM Server interfacesseamlessly with all leading 3DCAD systemsUnlimited DatasetsInfiniteCore technologyenables project datasets ofunlimited size to be readilycreated and accessedIncreased ProductivityThe intuitive 360 o BubbleViewmakes it easy to verify clashes, review laser scan data, orsimply become familiar withthe siteClash-free DesignAccurate, detailed ‘as-is’information minimises thebusiness risks of revampprojectsBusiness FlexibilityImport scans from a widevariety of scanner types anddata formats into a singledatasetThe LFM BubbleView is a true-to-life representation of a captured asset.www.lfm-software.com

Key FeaturesLFM Server enables the creation and management ofunlimited point cloud datasets from a wide variety oflaser scanners, and can link to all the leading 3D CADsystems.BubbleView interfaceBubbleViews are extremely versatile. They providea realistic visual representation of the scanned siteand a range of practical functions such as volumeselections and pipe diameter measurements.Dynamic BubbleViewsBubbleViews can be ‘hot spotted’ to add intelligenceto the laser scan data. With information derivedfrom a 3D model, users can configure which objectsprovide what information. Additionally, the ‘DynamicObjects’ option enables users to display the objectsthey wish to see, by hovering the mouse over aparticular area.Coloured point clouds and coloured BubbleViewIn addition to traditional greyscale images, LFMServer also supports laser scan data in colour. Thiscoloured data is reflected in both the point cloudand the BubbleView, further enhancing this realisticviewing mode.Neighbouring scan site mapEach BubbleView maps the exact location ofnearby scans. A single mouse click will switch into aneighbouring BubbleView.Inter-BubbleView measurementMultiple BubbleViews can be displayed, either intiled view or as floating images. Users can measureaccurately over very large distances across a sitecovered by many BubbleViews.Quick-detach featureA BubbleView can be rapidly detached from the tiledinterface for use in a CAD system, or it can be directlylaunched from the CAD system. Once a BubbleViewis detached, an integrated drop-down toolbar isavailable, which can be permanently pinned.Hotspots in the LFM BubbleView.Ability to read objectsLFM Server enables users to import and save CADobjects in an LFM Server project. 3D models createdin LFM Modeller or other systems can thereforebe reviewed offline directly in the LFM Serverenvironment.Volume selectionA high-resolution volume of scan coordinates can berapidly retrieved using a simple and intuitive dynamicstretching box. Users can spawn off new regions, enabling multiple volumes to be quickly defined. Eachvolume can be morphed, manipulated and swivelledinto a variety of shapes. Complex volumes can beselected regardless of their position in 3D space.LFM Server also enables selection of a volumedirectly from the BubbleView. This avoids the riskof selecting an incorrect point in the background, ensuring correct volume selection. Volumes can bestored in the project file for easy retrieval.Automatic clash detectionA powerful, efficient and reliable clash detectionmodule displays every interference between aproposed 3D design and the as-built laser scan data.Dynamic Objects will only appear in the BubbleView when selected by users.

Read multiple laser scan formatsData can be imported from all the major laser scannersystems, providing flexibility in the choice of scanneror service provider and enabling multiple scans fromdifferent hardware to be integrated.Non-structured data capabilityData can be captured from a variety of terrestrial, mobile,hand-held or aerial 3D scanners, and consolidated in asingle LFM dataset.Unrivalled CAD connectivityA user can selectively clash check the whole site, definedvolumes or individual objects. Clashes can be reviewedwithin the 3D point cloud window or using the LFMBubbleView interface. A powerful clash reporting toolsupports project quality assurance.Integrated dataLFM Server is datacentric, associating all measurements, benchmarks, tie-points and so on with the project file. This can be file- or database-driven.Powerful Manage tabThe Manage window offers extensive data managementcapabilities. For example, the Objects browser enablesusers to rapidly locate objects in the point cloud, seewhich BubbleViews are already loaded, or even getinformation about each item displayed in the 3D view.Pipe tie-insBy enabling the creation of pipe tie-ins, LFM Serverenables more efficient design processes.InfiniteCore technologyInfiniteCore technology enables an unlimited number ofregistered laser scans to be stored in a single dataset.Access speed is maintained and individual laser scansremain intact and available for rapid retrieval. The LFM Server dataset seamlessly integrates theInfiniteCore scan/point cloud data and the high-resolutionpanoramic BubbleViews. This provides an unrivalled userexperience and productive use of the data.Unrivalled CAD connectivityOptional CAD-Link modules enable seamless interfacingwith 3D modelling solutions provided by AVEVA,Autodesk, Intergraph and Bentley. For example:AVEVA PDMSSeamless integration with the AVEVA PDMS.Experience fully integrated laser scanning capabilitieswithin your design environment.Autodesk RevitLFM Server complements Building InformationManagement (BIM) solutions such as Autodesk Revit. An unlimited number of laser scans can be used in thisenvironment; ideal for large, complex projects.Intergraph SmartPlant 3DLFM Server can present the as-is facility to bothSmartPlant 3D and Intergraph PDS.

Optional ModesThe optional LFM Operating Modes add powerfulextra capabilities. All share a common user interfaceand platform with LFM Server. The LFM Operating Modes can be used individually ina stand-alone fashion (for example, LFM Gateway isideal for basic point cloud processing) but, when used incombination, enable a completely integrated workflow.LFM Gateway ModeThe most open laser scanning software available,LFM’s connectivity can be extended from terrestrial3D laser scanners to import other 3D data formatsfrom mobile, hand-held or aerial scanners.LFM Gateway also enables data export in open, industry standard formats.LFM RegisterWithin the same interface, raw data from individualscan positions can be integrated into a fullycoordinated framework faster and more efficientlythan with any other system. Data registered usingLFM can be exported and used with downstreampackages from other laser scanning software vendors.A single LFM Server-based product, this enablesseamless creation of LFM NetView projects andgeneration of LFM Server datasets.LFM Server GeneratorThis creates InfiniteCore datasets for use in LFMServer and AVEVA Everything3D. Registered scanscan be taken from any registration tool to createadded-value datasets that are widely used throughoutindustry. An updated user interface, with enhanceduser assistance, reporting and licensing makes theprocess simple and intuitive.LFM NetView GeneratorThis organises and creates LFM NetView projects. These can be online or file-based.LFM Software Limited, an AVEVA Group companyLFM Software Limited believes the information in this publication is correct as of its publication date.
