AirForceReserveOficerTrainingCorpsAfiliateProgramStudents interested in earning an <strong>of</strong>ficer commission in the United States Air Force canparticipate in the Air Force ROTC Affiliate Program <strong>UHV</strong> has with the <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Houston</strong>main campus. Cadets drive to <strong>Houston</strong> once a week for drill and two credit hours <strong>of</strong>course work in military science each semester. The program is coordinated by the School<strong>of</strong> Education & Human Development but is open to students in any school or major.Benefits <strong>of</strong> the program include scholarships and a $300-a-month stipend. SoEHD studentswill be reimbursed for mileage to and from <strong>Houston</strong>. Jaguars AthleticsThe <strong>UHV</strong> Jaguars baseball and s<strong>of</strong>tball teams strongly compete in the National Association<strong>of</strong> Intercollegiate Athletics. Under the coaching <strong>of</strong> former <strong>Houston</strong> Astro Terry Puhl, thebaseball team won the first Association <strong>of</strong> Independent Institutions conferencechampionship in 2009. Admissions<strong>UHV</strong> has different admissions requirements for members <strong>of</strong> the FIRST 200 and students transferring from otherinstitutions.RequirementsIn order to be eligible to be a member <strong>of</strong> the FIRST 200, you must have a U.S. high school diploma, a GeneralEquivalency Degree, or less than 12 semester-credit hours at an accredited community college or university.
