EXIT HESI TESTING AS A GRADUATION REQUIREMENTIn most states, the satisfactory completion of the EXIT HESI exam is a graduation requirement of theassociate degree program in Nursing. In those states, a student in the associate degree program in Nursingmay not graduate until he or she has achieved an EXIT HESI exam score of 850 or higher. The EXITHESI is administered up to three (3) times during the final quarter of a student’s associate degree programin Nursing. Any student who scores below 850 on the EXIT HESI must be assigned a faculty mentor andmust complete remediation through a combination of online tools and/or faculty tutoring prior to thestudent’s second and/or third EXIT HESI attempts. If a student does not achieve a passing score of atleast 850 or higher after the third attempt of the EXIT HESI, the Dean, Nursing Chair, Assigned FacultyMentor and student must complete the Nursing Student Remediation Agreement (“RemediationAgreement”), a copy of which will be explained to the student and signed by all parties involved. Prior tothe fourth EXIT HESI exam being taken, the student must satisfactorily complete the remediation plan asoutlined on the Remediation Agreement.If the student is not successful in achieving a score of 850 or higher on the fourth attempt, the student mayappeal to retake the EXIT HESI an unlimited number of times provided, however, that the studentcompletes further remediation before attempting each subsequent retake of the EXIT HESI exam. Thestudent must:Participate in self-guided remediation activities and/or participate in additional remediationoffered by the <strong>ITT</strong> Tech;Provide evidence of his/her self-guided remediation activities and/or successful participation inadditional remediation offered by the <strong>ITT</strong> Tech;Wait at least thirty (30) days from the previous retake of the EXIT HESI before retaking theEXIT HESI another time; andPay all costs associated with the self-guided remediation and all costs and/or fees associated withretaking the EXIT HESI. The student may, however, continue to audit remediation courses at <strong>ITT</strong>Tech at no cost.The student will not be permitted to retake the EXIT HESI after the earlier of:Any date more than five (5) years from the student’s initial start date in the associate degreeprogram in Nursing; orAny date after the <strong>ITT</strong> Tech has surrendered the program approval with its respective state boardof nursingUpon satisfactory completion of all graduation requirements, including the EXIT HESI exam whererequired, the student will be permitted to graduate and his/her associate degree will be conferred.REQUIREMENTS FOR LICENSUREUpon graduation from the Nursing program graduates are eligible to make application to the NationalCouncil of State Boards of Nursing (“NCSBN”) National Council Licensure Examination for RegisteredNurses (“NCLEX-RN”). Passage of the NCLEX-RN is dependent on the graduate’s preparation and <strong>ITT</strong>
