Message From Our <strong>District</strong> GovernorSavas C. TsivicosDear Brothers,It gives me a great pleasure tocommunicate with you and wish you alla very wonderful and productive year!It is indeed an honor and a privilege toserve as your <strong>District</strong> Governor! Thankyou for your confidence in me and for yourcontinued support. We have a very busyyear ahead of us full of challenges andyour active participation and support willcertainly make a tremendous difference.We have already started our visitations toour chapters and have made arrangementsfor a few events. Please consider attendingthese events to insure their success. The firstevent coming up is the Wildwood Weekendchaired by Brothers George Horiates, PDGand John Rozanitis. It will take place onSeptember 30th, October 1st and 2nd atthe Acropolis Oceanfront Resort, JFK andthe Beach, North Wildwood, NJ. The rateis only $175 for a double occupancy! Itincludes accommodations, full breakfast,Dinner and a Farewell Luncheon! Don’t missit! Please reserve now! Please send in yourcheck to brother, Gust C. Kraras, PDG at 26E. Lancaster Avenue, Reading, PA 19607.The second event scheduled is a districtworkshop for chapters in the northern partof our district on October 8th from 10:00AM to 2:00 PM. It will be hosted by theRamapo Chapter #453 in Wyckoff, NJ at theSt. Nicholas Church, at the <strong>AHEPA</strong> FamilyCenter. Please note the date and make plansfor your entire chapter lodge to attend.It will be informative and worthwhile.The third event is a district workshopas well for chapters in the southern partof our district! It is set for October 15thfrom 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM and it will behosted by our South Jersey Chapter #162in Vineland, at St. Anthony’s Church Hall,430 W Wheat Rd, Vineland, NJ. Please markyour calendars and make it a priority to be there!Our <strong>District</strong> is one of the most active<strong>District</strong>s in the <strong>AHEPA</strong> domain and weneed to make sure that <strong>District</strong> 5 continuesto raise the bar! Our top priority is toincrease membership and help the less activechapters overcome the challenges they arefacing! Please do not hesitate to reach outto me for any help or advice you may need!Your <strong>District</strong> Lodge is at your disposal! Anumber of mass invitations will take placeand I urge all the chapter officers to make aconcerted effort to bring in new members!Lastly but not least, we will continue towork very closely with the Daughters ofPenelope in pursuing our common goals.I am looking forward to working very closelywith each and every one of you in order toadvance the mission of <strong>AHEPA</strong>! Being amember of <strong>AHEPA</strong> is a huge privilege but itcarries certain responsibilities as well! The <strong>District</strong>Lodge has been busy this summer planningvarious events and changes for the Good ofthe Order. We continue to work togetherand are here to assist all chapters.This past June we started our year off withthe 5th <strong>District</strong> Education Foundation “Dayat the Races”, which was well attended witha day of good food and friends and some verylucky winners!I would like to share with you theobjectives of the Daughters of Penelope “topromote Hellenism, Education, Philanthropy,Civic Responsibility, and Family &Individual Excellence. The Daughters ofPenelope encourages and promotes loyalty tothe country in which they live; cultivates theideals and traditions of Hellenism; promotesopportunities of education; and promotes thespirit of cooperation and works closely andin harmony with the whole <strong>AHEPA</strong> Family.This years <strong>District</strong> Lodge will continueto promote the order as such and will beworking closely our chapters as we continueto promote the Daughters of Penelope asa whole. The Daughters <strong>District</strong> Lodge iscomplete with Sisters who are committed toour order and ready to serve proudly with mein our district.Your <strong>District</strong> Lodge Liaisons have reachedout to you this summer so we can prepareour visitations and attend your events aswell. Please mark your calendars for the<strong>District</strong> Workshop, on Saturday, October15, 2011 at Evangelismos Greek OrthodoxChurch, Jersey City, NJ at 10:00 AM. Theworkshop is for all Daughters of the 5th<strong>District</strong>. We hope to see many of you there.As we continue with the objectives of theDaughters of Penelope this year the lodgewill be focusing on “Purple”.
