Daughters of PenelopeDaughters of Penelope Grand TreasurerDemi ThomasDear Sisters and Brothers:It is my honor and pleasure to have beenelected at the recent national conventionin Miami, Florida as the Grand Treasurerof the Daughters of Penelope. Theconvention was a wonderful event, and ourbusiness meetings were productive and wideranging. Our organization is a vital elementof our community, and it was heartening tosee the collaboration among the delegatesat the convention that came from allcorners of the United States and Canada.Of course, the friendships that are renewedand that are begun at the convention andother gatherings of our organization are awonderful, personal benefit.For the past two years, I worked asthe Grand Advisors to the Maids ofAthena, our organization focused on theyoung woman of our community. Thatorganization recently observed the 80thanniversary of its founding in Tacoma,Washington. The Maids of Athena makesa vital contribution to our organization,providing a framework to teach youngwoman leadership skills while offeringthem an opportunity to support ourcommunity through their special projects.The future of the Daughters of Penelopeis strengthened with a strong and vitalMaids of Athena.The Daughters of Penelope will focusits energy and programs on key projects,such as the Penelope House, PenelopePlace, Daughters of Penelope Foundation,Sylvester Cancer Center, Cystic Fibrosis,and the Penelopean Day Care Facilitywhich are the pillars of our community.I look forward to sharing with you ourprogress throughout the year as theseprograms unfold.Yours in Theta Pi,Demi ThomasALTES CHAPTER #163The Daughters of Penelope (DOP) - Altes #163 islooking forward to another active and productive year.We have planned a joint installation of newly electedofficers with our Brother <strong>AHEPA</strong>NS - TRENTON Chapter#72 in September at our beautiful <strong>AHEPA</strong> hall. We arehappy to announce we will be installing the followingofficers: PRESIDENT - Dina Fanikos, VICE PRESIDENT- Christina Harvey, RECORDING SECRETARY - CallieMuzithras, CORRESPONDING SECRETARTY - JaneAllen and TREASURER - Donna Petinos. This will be anight of fellowship and fun- a wonderful way to start thenew year.Our annual gift auction is our main fundraiser. Weare very busy in the planning stages now and are hopingit is as successful as always. Many thanks go out to ourChairperson-Marguerite Arabatzis and her hard workingcommittee for continuing to make this event work.
