MPS High Claims Manager MelanieRowles explained to delegates the policy developmentsand legal reasoning behind corporate manslaughter andvicarious liabilities from an OOH perspective.More than simply a case where “the employer cops itwhen something goes wrong”, vicarious liability ensuresthat those who have suffered harm secure compensationfrom a financially secure enterprise, rather than relyingon the finances of the individual who has carried out anywrong doing. It also encourages employers to maintaingood standards of practice amongst all their employees. To view the MPS Casebook article, “Liability for others’errors”, for more information – click here.
