ตอมาความตองการใชกาซปโตรเลียมเหลว (LPG หรือกาซหุงตม) ไดขยายตัวสูงขึ้นอยางรวดเร็ว คณะรัฐมนตรีจึงอนุมัติให ปตท. กอสรางโรงแยกกาซธรรมชาติ หนวยที่ 2 ขึ้นในบริเวณเดียวกับโรงแยกกาซธรรมชาติ หนวยที่ 1 ใชงบประมาณทั้งสิ้น2,057 ลานบาท มีกำลังการผลิต 250 ลานลูกบาศกฟุตตอวัน และกอสรางแลวเสร็จในตน พ.ศ. 2534 และเนื่องจากความตองการใชกาซปโตรเลียมเหลวยังคงขยายตัวอยางตอเนื่อง คณะรัฐมนตรีจึงอนุมัติการกอสรางโรงแยกกาซธรรมชาติ หนวยที่ 3 ซึ่งมีกำลังการผลิต 350 ลานลูกบาศกฟุตตอวัน ที่ จ.ระยอง ในบริเวณเดียวกันกับหนวยที่ 1 และหนวยที่ 2 และโรงแยกกาซธรรมชาติหนวยที่ 4 ซึ่งมีกำลังการผลิต 230 ลานลูกบาศกฟุตตอวัน ที่ อ.ขนอม จ.นครศรีธรรมราช ซึ่งเปดดำเนินการอยางเปนทางการใน พ.ศ. 2539 ทั้งสองหนวย เพื่อสนองความตองการใชกาซปโตรเลียมเหลว หรือกาซหุงตมที่เพิ่มขึ้นมากจนตองนำเขามาทดแทนรวมทั้งชวยเสริมสรางความมั่นคงใหแกอุตสาหกรรมปโตรเคมีในพื้นที่ชายฝงทะเลตะวันออกถึงแมวาประเทศไทยจะมีโรงแยกกาซธรรมชาติแลวถึง 4 หนวย แตก็ยังไมเพียงพอตอความตองการของประเทศ โดยเฉพาะความตองการดานวัตถุดิบตั้งตนสำหรับผลิตภัณฑปโตรเคมี ดังนั้นเมื่อ พ.ศ. 2542 คณะกรรมการ ปตท. จึงมีมติเห็นชอบใหกอสรางโรงแยกกาซธรรมชาติ หนวยที่ 5 ขึ้นที่บริเวณนิคมอุตสาหกรรมมาบตาพุด อ.เมือง จ.ระยอง มีกำลังการผลิต 530 ลานลูกบาศกฟุตตอวัน โดยเปดดำเนินการในเชิงพาณิชยเมื่อเดือนสิงหาคม พ.ศ. 2548 อีกทั้งใน พ.ศ. 2548 ไดดำเนินการกอสรางโรงแยกกาซ-ธรรมชาติ หนวยที่ 6 ขนาดกำลังการผลิต 800 ลานลูกบาศกฟุตตอวัน ภายในพื้นที่เดียวกันกับหนวยที่ 1, 2, 3 และ 5 ใน จ.ระยองโดยคาดวาจะเริ่มดำเนินการเชิงพาณิชยไดใน พ.ศ. 2553Later, the demand for liquefied petroleum gas or LPG increasedsharply, the Cabinet thus approved PTT to construct the second unit inthe compound of the first one. The second unit has a processingcapacity of 250 MMscfd and required a budget of 2,507 million baht.It was in 1991 that plant completed.As the demand of LPG continued to grow, the Cabinet thenapproved PTT to construct the third unit with a processing capacity of350 MMscfd to be located in Rayong province and in the samecompound of the first and second unit. The fourth unit of the gas separation plant with a processing capacity of230 MMscfd is located in Nakhon Sri Thammarat Province. Both units began operation in 1996. They were aimed to satisfythe rising demand of LPG which has to be imported and help strengthen security of petrochemical industry inthe Eastern Seaboard.Despite 4 units of gas separation plants, the country is still under supply, especially for the demand ofpetrochemical feedstock which is still on a rise. Therefore, in 1999 PTT’s Board of Director resolved to construct the fifthunit in Mab Ta Phut industrial estate, Amphur Mueng, Rayoung Province. The Fifth unit had a production capacity of530 MMscfd and was commercially operated in August 2005. Furthermore, in October 2005 PTT constructed the sixthunit in the same compound of unit I, II, III and V.
