If you are a cancer patient at the QEII Hospital in Halifax, and you need a place to stay
during your treatment, you can stay at The Lodge That Gives or Point Pleasant
Lodge. Both are located close to the hospital. If you need a place to stay, please let the
booking clerk know when you are called with your treatment schedule and they will
contact one of the Lodges to book you in for your stay. The cost of these Lodges is
covered for the patient during treatment at the hospital. Please note the cost is not
covered for a support person who stays with you, except in specific situations.

The Lodge That Gives is located behind the Nova Scotia Cancer Centre. There are
single and double rooms with private washrooms. A family member or support person
can stay for $55 per night. In certain situations, that fee may be waived (e.g. parents
coming with a child, caregiver of a transplant patient, or families with financial hardship).
First time reservations must be made by the following people to have the cost covered:
• A booking clerk at the Nova Scotia Cancer Centre
• A family physician
• A cancer specialist
• A Cancer Patient navigator
Parking at the Lodge is limited. It is available on a first come, first served basis. Meals
are provided at no cost. The Lodge also offers internet, hairdressing, support groups
and activities.

Point Pleasant Lodge is located one block from the QEII Hospital. It is within walking
distance but a shuttle bus is also available to and from the hospital. A booking clerk
from the QEII Hospital MUST book your room at Point Pleasant Lodge for the cost to be
covered during your stay.
A support person can stay for $40.25 per night (rate subject to
change). To receive this rate, the booking clerk at the hospital needs to include the
support person when calling Point Pleasant Lodge to make the booking, so if someone
is staying with you during treamtnet please let the booking clerk know when you are
called with your treatment schedule. If the person coming with you is noted as an
“essential” escort for medical reasons by the booking clerk then the cost of their stay
may also be covered. Please letthe booking clerk know if you need the person with you
for medical reasons.
You must contact Point Pleasant Lodge before 10 a.m. on the day of your arrival
to confirm you are still coming and keep your room booking. There is limited
parking at Point Pleasant Lodge. The cost of parking is $11.50/day plus tax. Parking is
available on a first come, first served basis. Most of the rooms are double rooms.
Patients who are staying at the Lodge on their own may be asked to share a double
room with someone of the same gender. There is a charge for meals. Meal vofuchers
for cancer patients and essential escorts, to a maximum of (2) $5 vouchers per day, per
person are available through the Nova Scotia Cancer Centre. You pick up the meal
vouchers each day you come for treatment, at the reception desk when you check in for
treatment. The meal vouchers can be used at either Point Pleasant Lodge or the
hospital cafeteria.

These hotels, inns, and bed and breakfasts offer discounts or special rates for hospital
patients. When you book, tell the clerk that you are a patient at the hospital or a family
member. They will let you know if they need any paperwork to give you a special rate.
