In summary, thethree markets profiled here—Canada, the United Kingdom, and the United States—all have a demonstrated commitment to human capacity development and an infrastructureestablished to develop professionals and investors.CanadaCanada is a federation with 10 provinces and three territories. Its capital markets canbe characterized as having a strong regulatory focus, a diversity of professional associations,and many private sector firms that specialize in skills and knowledge developmentprograms for the sector Table 15-2 provides a summary of key players in thesector.A significant feature observed in this context is the fact that all of the industryassociations include continuous upgrading courses for their memberships throughsector-specific programs. Professionals in this environment therefore have access to arange of training and development opportunities.
