SUPER PRECISION CYLINDRICAL ROLLER BEARINGSRadial cylindrical roller <strong>bearings</strong> inhigh-<strong>precision</strong> design are an integralpart of the FAG <strong>super</strong> <strong>precision</strong>range. Series N10 and NN30are entirely available in this design,while there are some selectedbearing sizes of series N19 andNNU49.They are ideal floating <strong>bearings</strong> asthe linear expansion during rotationis accommodated betweenrollers and raceways. Moreover, radialcylindrical roller <strong>bearings</strong> distinguishthemselves by their highradial rigidity.In addition to their application asfloating <strong>bearings</strong> where single row<strong>bearings</strong> are used almost exclusively,they are chosen for bearingarrangements that call for• radial rigidity• high load carrying capacity• and high <strong>precision</strong>.The axial loads in such applicationsare usually accommodated bydouble direction angular contactthrust ball <strong>bearings</strong> of series 2344(see page 102).Bearing DesignStandard cylindrical roller <strong>bearings</strong>feature a tapered bore (taper 1:12)for precise adjustment of the radialclearance. Thus the desired radialclearance or radial preload can beadjusted by axial displacement onthe tapered shaft. Hybrid cylindricalroller <strong>bearings</strong> with rollers fromceramic material have been newlyincluded in the product range.Thanks to the use of ceramicrollers, they offer significantly improvedcharacteristics in terms ofbearing friction and wear.FAG · 84
