WHERE ARE WE?Oaklands <strong>Day</strong> <strong>Centre</strong> is situated at thenorthern end of Rhymney and has easyaccess to public transport and local amenities.WHO CAN USE THE SERVICE?We offer a range of services (includingrespite breaks) for adults of any age withlearning disabilities, physical disabilities ormental health problems. To attend Oaklands,it needs to be agreed in your care plan.WHAT DO WE OFFER?Oaklands is open Monday to Friday from9.00 am to 4.00 pm.A named worker will help you to settle in,introduce you to others and make you feelwelcome. They can help you with plannedactivities of your choice and you can go tothem if you have any queries or problems.We offer a friendly and relaxingenvironment where you can meet othersand develop new skills and interests. Wehave a range of activities available to meetyour individual needs.We have showering facilities and can helpyou with your personal care. We also haveaccess to specialist equipment to make surethat your care is given safely and securely.


We also manage two smaller centres, onein New Tredegar and the other in YstradMynach. These centres provide a locallybased service for people who do not need ahigh level of care.MEALSWe provide two-course lunches and havemenus that are varied and nutritious. We canalso cater for specific diets (e.g. diabetic, lowfat, low salt, etc.).CHARGESThere are charges for attendance and lunchbut this will depend on the outcome of afinancial assessment.COMPLAINTSIf you or your family and friends feel that theservice has let you down, please tell us sothat we can try to resolve the problem.If you remain unhappy (or if we are unableto help you) there are a number of optionsavailable to you.The Directorate of Social Services operatethe “Listening and Learning procedure” forcomplaints.
