EXTRAORDINARY CAREknows no boundsInternational Nursing Service ProjectsVenturing beyond the classroom and local community, Chamberlain students have the opportunityto participate in International Nursing Service Projects in Kenya, Bolivia and Brazil. These immersionexperiences give students the opportunity to practice their nursing skills while gaining a deeperunderstanding of cultural and economic differences across the globe. International Nursing ServiceProjects can be done in place of the Multiculturalism in Healthcare – Special Populations courserequirement, so students can receive course credit as well as the educational experience of a lifetime.Interprofessional Global Service ProjectsAs a extension of the International Nursing Service Project, Chamberlain College of Nursing joinedforces with Ross University School of Medicine to serve the people of Kenya in three local slums.This Interprofessional Global Service Project was led by two distinguished individuals: Sue Fletcher, EdD,MSN, professor and head of Chamberlain’s International Nursing Service Project trips, and Mary Coleman,MD, PhD, special advisor to the president of Ross University School of Medicine.Interprofessional GlobalHealthcare Project – KenyaInterprofessional GlobalHealthcare Project – KenyaThis project holds special significance, not just for the care and services provided to a populationin need of healthcare, but for the partnership it demonstrates between two healthcare professions.In a 2008 study developed by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) and the Instituteof Medicine (IOM) titled The Future of Nursing: Leading Change.
