Five generations of thefamily were in attendance.In addition, numerous pinkflamingos arrived for the day.Pictures were taken at theparty and everyone enjoyedcake and drinks. CTV’s Liveat 5 shared a photo of Mrs.Beeler on its newscast and numerouslocal newspapers hadarticles. Daughter Jean andJim Moore actually celebratedtheir 60th wedding anniversary<strong>Feb</strong>ruary 14, the day beforeMrs. Beeler’s birthday.Mrs. Beeler is one of theoldest Nova Scotians, andremains in pretty good health.She was born <strong>Feb</strong>ruary 15,1904 in Victory, AnnapolisCounty. At 18, she travelled toBoston to train as a nurse; in19<strong>25</strong>, she graduated as a registerednurse and valedictorianof her class. She spent the nextthree years doing private nursingduties in the Boston area.In 1928, Mrs. Beeler returnedto Nova Scotia and was soonmarried to her childhood love,Murray C. Beeler. In 1930,her husband and his brother,Ken, bought a hardware storein Annapolis Royal and ranit under the name of BeelerBros. <strong>The</strong> couple raised twochildren, Jean and George,Edrie Beeler marked her 109 th birthday with five generations of her family: fromleft are granddaughter Brendalee Prall, Wilmot, with great-great-granddaughterEllie Best; Sarah Prall, great-granddaughter; Mrs. Beeler, and daughter Jean Moore.M.Rolphand Mrs. Beeler was active inAnnapolis Royal communitylife. In the late 1930s, she wasvery involved in having theAnnapolis Royal General Hospitalconceived and built. Overthe next 40 years, she waspresident of the Hospital AidSociety.
