18ADMISSION POLICIESSCHOOL ADMISSION<strong>Southern</strong> <strong>Nazarene</strong> University offers three master's degrees: Master of Arts, Master of Science andMaster in Business Administration. Admission and degree requirements for each major in the master'sprograms are listed individually in the programs' descriptions.GRADUATE TRANSFER CREDITA maximum of six semester credit hours of equivalent graduate credit is eligible for transfer into anyspecific program. No course credit may be transferred unless the grade received was a least a “B” (3.00)from an accredited institution.Correspondence courses are not accepted toward a graduate degree. Please refer to the appropriatesection for specific program requirements.In traditional graduate programs, up to nine graduate credit hours may be transferred from regionallyaccredited colleges prior to admission to candidacy, provided grades of “B” or above were earned.Transcripts are evaluated on an individual basis. Study on consignment is designed to allow students ina traditional degree program to enroll in another institution for a limited amount of coursework that isconsistent with the student’s approved degree program. Study on consignment must have the priorapproval of the student’s graduate program coordinator and the college dean.Once a student has been admitted to candidacy, courses cannot be taken elsewhere to count toward thedegree except on consignment. Total graduate course credit hours accepted by transfer and/or onconsignment shall not exceed nine.RE-ENTRY ADMISSIONAll graduate students who have previously attended <strong>SNU</strong> must submit a re-entry application andtranscripts of any courses taken since leaving <strong>SNU</strong>.A dismissed student may apply for readmission after one year upon demonstrating an improvement inmotivation or preparation for graduate work. A dismissed student’s application for readmission will bereferred to the graduate program directors for review. If a student leaves the institution for a semesteror more, the student returns at the same standing.Students who leave <strong>SNU</strong> for two or less consecutive semesters (not including summer sessions) willre-enter under the academic program / curriculum in effect at the time of re-entry.Students who leave <strong>SNU</strong> for more than two consecutive semesters (not including summer sessions) willre-enter under the academic program / curriculum in effect at the time of re-entry.SECOND GRADUATE DEGREEA student who holds a master’s degree from <strong>SNU</strong> may earn a second master’s degree by completing allprogram requirements required for the second degree.A student may apply no more than nine credits of work from the first degree to a second degree; allcoursework applied to a degree must be no more than six years old (see Statute of Limitation).INTERNATIONAL STUDENTSIn addition to the regular admission materials, students who completed any of their baccalaureatestudies from an English-speaking college or university outside of the United States must submit proof ofproficiency in the English language. This is usually accomplished by a TOEFL internet-based score of atleast 79 (or paper-based equivalent), an IELTS score of 7.0, or successful completion of an approved ESL
