When pulling the trailer forward and the actuator extends, the brake lockout should fallout of the slot. This ensures that the actuator will function when stopping.The brake lockout bracket must be removedbefore towing or the trailer brakeswill not work.<strong>Manual</strong> bleeding of brakesCheck that all hydraulic fittings are secure.Read and understand all instructions before starting.Two people are required for manual bleeding.1. Remove the master cylinder reservoir plugand fill the reservoir with brake fluid. Use eitherDOT 3 (preferred) or DOT 4 automotivebrake fluid. Follow the instructions on the brakefluid container. Avoid shaking the brake fluidcontainer and pour fluid slowly to minimize airentrapment. Let the fluid in the reservoir standuntil it is completely free of air bubbles.2. IMPORTANT: Before bleeding the brakelines, bleed the actuator master cylinder. Inserta screwdriver through the hole in thebottom of the inner member and use shortstrokes to pry on the push rod (while holdingthe safety release bracket up) until no airbubbles are seen coming from the small orificehole in the bottom of the master cylinderreservoir.3. Start the bleeding procedure on the brakefarthest from the master cylinder.4. At the brake assembly, connect a transparentbleeder hose to the bleed screw fittingon the wheel cylinder and submerge the freeend into a container partially filled with brakefluid. Do not reuse this fluid.5. The first person should stroke the push rodslowly while holding the safety release bracketup. The second person opens the bleedscrew fitting. He then closes the bleed screwfitting BEFORE the first person SLOWLY releasesthe push rod. Repeat this procedureuntil the fluid expelled from the bleeder hoseis free of air bubbles. Remember to alwaysThe following procedure should be performedonly by skilled mechanics.
