Kindergarten RegistrationThe annual kindergarten registration will be held inFebruary at Village School. The school’s primary objectiveis to gather the basic information necessary toenroll students so that staff and parents can begin towork together to make each child’s first experience atschool positive and productive. The aim of kindergartenis to provide a basic foundation for literacy and numeracy.It is a program geared to make the transitionfrom home to school as smooth as possible.Children will be admitted to Kindergarten forthe 2013-2014 academic year provided they are fiveyears old on or before October 1, 2013. Parents mustprovide proof of the child’s age with either a birth certificateor passport. A record of immunizations againstdiphtheria, pertussis, and tetanus (DPT), poliomyelitis,rubeola (regular measles), mumps, rubella, Hib, hepatitisB, and varicella virus (chicken pox) is required. Arecord of the Mantoux tuberculin test is also required.Proof of residency is needed even if the family alreadyhas a child in the <strong>Holmdel</strong> Township PublicSchool System. Proof of residency includes: a deed,certificate of closing, title, lease agreement or rentalagreement. In addition, at least two of the followingdocuments supporting residency must be shown: tworecent utility bills, voter’s registration, recent tax bill,homeowner’s insurance certificate or current driver’slicense.For further information, please contact theprincipal’s office at Village School.Change of AddressParents should inform personnel in the main office of the child’s school ifa change of address or telephone number has occurred or if they aremoving/transferring to another school district. Remember to keep Emergencyand Student Directory information current!If transferring a student to another school, a parent or guardian shouldcomplete a written request for the transfer of records.ResidencyIn order to attend the <strong>Holmdel</strong> Township Public Schools, a student mustbe legally domiciled within the <strong>District</strong>. The mere owning of any propertydoes not qualify a parent or guardian to send children to school in <strong>Holmdel</strong>.Specific guidelines have been established for the <strong>District</strong> that are compliantwith state law. The <strong>District</strong> recommends that parents seek legal advice whenseparation/divorce and custody arrangements are considerations in whatdistrict a student may attend.The <strong>District</strong> will seek full tuition reimbursement for any studentsattending the <strong>Holmdel</strong> schools who are not legally domiciled in <strong>Holmdel</strong>.
