<strong>JUMPING</strong> COMPETITIONS - CONDITIONS1. All Competitions will be judged under current British <strong>Show</strong>jumping Rules and Regulations. Attention is particularly drawn to their Rule 82.21which states "No member shall allow a stallion for which he/she is responsible as owner, lessee, authorised agent or rider to compete or beprepared to compete, in any show jumping competition without taking adequate precautions to ensure other members of the public are not put atrisk of injury"2. All Competitors must wear uniform or Hunting Costume or appropriate hats and coats. Failure to comply may involve disqualification.On the Society's property, anyone on a horse must wear a correctly secured hard hat conforming to the current BSI or European Standard.Headgear must be worn in accordance with British <strong>Show</strong>jumping Rule 101.3. Entries for jumping will be accepted up to 5.00 p.m. on 3rd June and no entries can be accepted after this date(with the exception of thoseponies that qualify in the one qualifier held after this date) In regard to show jumping entries, the Exhibitor shall be deemed to be therider, and full details of the horse(s) and owner(s), including British <strong>Show</strong>jumping numbers, MUST be given on the entry form. Entriesare confined to horses or ponies registered with the British <strong>Show</strong>jumping and must be ridden by members.4. Entry Fees must be paid at time of entry.DECLARATION TIMINGSYou must declare at least one and a half hours before the commencement of each class. Substitution entries will be approved only in accordance with British <strong>Show</strong>jumping Rule 79.4.6. When a standard has been reached, horses incurring more than a certain number of faults may be retired in accordance with British <strong>Show</strong>jumpingRule 203.3.7. Stables will be available for competing <strong>Show</strong> Jumping horses provided these are booked and paid for at the time of entry and before closingdate. A stable may be booked in respect of a competitive animal only.In respect of stables booked for <strong>Show</strong> Jumping Horses, the period of occupation of a stable shall be from 7.00 p.m. on the first night ofreservation until 6.00 p.m. on the day following the last night of reservation. A Deposit of £5 will be required in respect of each stable, whichwill be refunded if the stable is left in clean and tidy condition. Exhibitors SHALL NOT under any circumstances occupy any stable which hasnot been officially allocated to them and infringement of this rule will incur a penalty of £80 per night per stable occupied and may lead toexclusion from the <strong>Show</strong>.8. Immediately before certain Finals, Competitors may be required to parade in jumping order. Failure to comply may involve disqualification.9. Competitors must be ready 15 minutes before starting time. Horses/Ponies must jump in programme order unless special permission has beenobtained from the Steward in charge of Jumping. If a Competitor does not respond when his order number is called he loses his turn and thehorse bearing the number called may be eliminated from the Competition in progress.10. The number of entries in each Competition may be limited at the discretion of the <strong>Show</strong> Jumping Committee, who reserve the right to refuse orreject any entry without giving reason therefor, or to accept additional entries should the class allow.In the case of the number of entries in any class (excluding finals) exceeding the number which the organisers consider that they canaccommodate, then entries will be limited by reference to the British <strong>Show</strong>jumping Riders Ranking List for the 12 months to 31 December 2012,though always to include the 10 highest placed Scottish riders from that list. Notwithstanding this, the organisers retain the right to limit thenumber of horses per rider in any class, in any manner which they deem appropriate. In any case, a refund will be made of the relative fees.11. The <strong>Show</strong> Jumping Committee reserves the right to alter the times and format of Classes or to cancel any class at its sole discretion.12. Exercising of Stock and moving from Stalls. No livestock may be exercised in the areas to the south of the Grandstand at any time. <strong>Show</strong>Jumping Horses, Light Horses and Ponies may be exercised only in the designated areas of the Light Horse Float Park and <strong>Show</strong>ground, or byorder of the Stewards. Livestock, while out of its pen/stall/box must be accompanied at all times.13. Disclaimer of Liability to Exhibitors. The term Exhibitor shall include persons taking part in any competition, exhibition or display arrangedby the Society and the owner of any animal, plant, machinery or other thing involved in any such Competition or display or otherwise exhibitedon the <strong>Show</strong>ground. Save for death or personal injury caused by breach of its duty the Society will not be responsible for death, injury,disease, damage, or loss caused to any Exhibitor or to his or her servant or agent or to any animal, article, plant, machinery or thing of whatevernature brought on to the <strong>Show</strong>ground by the said Exhibitor from whatever cause death, injury, disease, damage or loss arises.Save as aforesaid the Exhibitor shall indemnify the Society against all claims, damages and expenses whatsoever in any way arising out of thepresence of the Exhibitor, his or her servants, agents, exhibits, vehicles or equipment on the <strong>Show</strong>ground and shall assume full responsibilitytherefor.Acceptance of the foregoing provisions shall be a condition of entry.Exhibitors are advised to insure against fire and other appropriate risk not only as regards their own property but also against any third partyclaims.14. Conditions of Admittance. Persons are admitted to the <strong>Royal</strong> <strong>Highland</strong> Centre (which incorporates the Car Parks, <strong>Royal</strong> <strong>Highland</strong><strong>Show</strong>ground, including the livestock lines, roadways, <strong>Royal</strong> <strong>Highland</strong> Exhibition Hall and other premises) at their own risk and while everyendeavour will be taken to ensure their safety the Society will not (save for death or personal injury caused by breach of its duty) be heldresponsible for personal injury (whether fatal or otherwise), loss of or damage to property or any other loss, damage, costs and expenses howevercaused.When moving between trade stands, exhibits, rings or public areas, all persons must use designated roads and avenues and must comply with theinstructions of the Society's Directors, Stewards, Staff (identifiable by official badge) or by the Police. On no account may members of thepublic remove or climb over or past pedestrian barriers.Persons entering livestock areas do so at their own risk. In no circumstances may anybody enter the Main Ring, Jumping Ring or Judging Ringswithout the authority of the Chief Steward concerned.The Society reserves the right to remove from any part of the <strong>Show</strong>ground any person whose behaviour is deemed to be unacceptable for anyreason.


ANIMAL HEALTH REGULATIONS FOR HORSES(a) Docking - Exhibitors' attention is drawn to the "Docking and Nicking of Horses Act 1949". No horse with a docked tail born in or after 1983 will bepermitted to be shown unless it is accompanied by a certificate signed by a veterinary surgeon to the effect that the docking has been carried out inaccordance with the Act.(b) Exhibitors are reminded that Equine Viral Arteritis is a notifiable disease in certain circumstances and that animals placed under restriction for thisdisease must not be brought to the <strong>Show</strong>.(c) Horse PassportsAll competitors must carry a valid passport for all horses coming to the <strong>Show</strong>. Checks may be carried out by the Trading Standards Department of TheCity of Edinburgh Council(d) Exhibitors from outwith the United Kingdom, Republic of Ireland and FranceAnimals attending the <strong>Royal</strong> <strong>Highland</strong> <strong>Show</strong> must be accompanied by an Animal Health Certificate issued by the Veterinary Service in their Country ofOrigin. Animals from outwith the United Kingdom, Republic of Ireland or France arriving from other <strong>Show</strong>s in Great Britain must also be accompaniedby a Special Movement Licence.On Wednesday of show week, the Divisional Veterinary Manager will inspect your animals and will require to have sight of the Animal HealthCertificate and, where applicable, the Special Movement Licence.Owners of animals being re-exported directly from the <strong>Royal</strong> <strong>Highland</strong> <strong>Show</strong> should contact the Society's Official Veterinary Surgeons who will issue aCertificate of Export which the animals will require for their homeward journey.Owners of animals moving to further <strong>Show</strong>s before re-export must obtain a Special Movement Licence from the Divisional Veterinary Manager who maybe contacted at the <strong>Royal</strong> <strong>Highland</strong> <strong>Show</strong>, via the Chief Steward.(e) Any Exhibitor from outwith the United Kingdom, including those from EU Member States, will, in addition to the Society's Animal Health Regulations,be required to abide by all British import and export regulations. Copies of these additional requirements may be obtained from the Society's Livestock& Competitions Manager.(f) It is the sole responsibility of the exhibitor to ensure that their animal(s) will be eligible to return to their Member State of origin, and areaccompanied by the appropriate return certification.(g) In the event of new Animal Health legislation being enacted between the date of preparation of this Schedule and the date of the <strong>Royal</strong> <strong>Highland</strong> <strong>Show</strong>,then exhibitors will be expected to abide by any new conditions of that legislation.IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR <strong>SHOW</strong> <strong>JUMPING</strong> COMPETITORS Approach RoadsProceed towards the showground via the dual carriageway A8 following signposts to Edinburgh Airport. Turn left at the Airport Roundabout, right at the Tjunction a few hundred yards away and this road leads you into the North Car Park through which you progress to the Light Horse Float Park. <strong>Show</strong> Jumping Competitors’ VehiclesAccess to the Light Horse Float Park within the <strong>Show</strong>ground will be restricted to vehicles carrying or towing horses only and which are displaying theappropriate pass. Passes for Light Horse Float ParkThe Light Horse Float Park is for vehicles carrying or towing horses. Competitors will be provided with one free Pass per Exhibitor for each 1-4 horsesentered on one day of competition, for the day of competition only, for display on their vehicle carrying or towing horses entered in the competitive classes.Should a second Pass be required to obtain access to the Light Horse Float Park for a further vehicle carrying or towing <strong>Show</strong> Jumping horses for the day ofcompetition then this may be purchased from the Society at a cost of £49.50 (incl. VAT ). Please note passes are restricted to two per exhibitor, i.e. one freepass and one purchased pass, for the day(s) of competition. Admission to Light Horse Float ParkDrivers and all passengers must be in possession of a Wrist Band coloured pertinent to the day of competition before being admitted to the Light Horse FloatPark. These Equine Attendants bands admit to the whole showground and those not in possession of a band will be required to pay to enter via a publicentrance to the <strong>Show</strong>ground. Car Parking in the Outside Car ParksParking in the ordinary Car Parks is £10.00 per vehicle per admission on each day of the <strong>Show</strong>. CaravansWe regret there is no parking of competitor’s caravans in the Light Horse Float Park due to lack of available space.Caravan parks are provided adjacent to the <strong>Show</strong>ground during the week of the <strong>Show</strong>. The number of sites is limited. The charge per site is £100.00 (incl.VAT ) Application forms, available from the Society, should be submitted as early as possible and must be accompanied by the appropriate fee(s). TicketsEquine Attendant Wrist Bands, valid for admission on each day of the <strong>Show</strong>, will be allocated on the following basis:2 Bands for each horse entered per day.Note that Membership strips can be exchanged for Equine Attendant Wristbands up to 2 weeks prior to the <strong>Show</strong> for those who are exhibiting only. Access(b) to Jumping Ring:Horses and riders will proceed via Gate 9 to the all weather warm up area.(b) to Main Ring:Horses and riders will proceed via the Gate 9 horse walkway entrance to the Main Ring Collecting Area. Water and ForageWater supply will be arranged for the Light Horse Float Park. Hay Bales will be delivered to those who have pre-purchased tickets at £5.00 per bale – theStable Manager will contact the forage delivery personnel on your behalf. Money paid for pre-purchased Hay Bale tickets which remain unused isnon-refundable. Tickets are valid only for the year of issue. Admission to <strong>Show</strong>ground Outwith Public Opening HoursAccess to the <strong>Show</strong>ground outwith public opening hours will be through the East and North Gates. The Light Horse Float Park Entrance Gate will be closedat dusk. Entrance and exit will be by wristband only. ALL OTHER GATES WILL BE CLOSED OUTWITH PUBLIC HOURS.The organisers of the <strong>Royal</strong> <strong>Highland</strong> <strong>Show</strong> will make every effort to ensure that the jumping surfaces are in optimum condition for both competitors andtheir horses.
