<strong>Greetings</strong> <strong>everyone</strong>, I <strong>hope</strong> <strong>this</strong> <strong>message</strong> <strong>finds</strong> <strong>you</strong> <strong>well</strong> <strong>rested</strong> <strong>from</strong> a wonderful summer.The longhouse met in August and <strong>this</strong> letter contains the results of that meeting, details of <strong>this</strong>year’s events, and a cry out for support. We are excited to offer a slightly different event list <strong>this</strong>year that we <strong>hope</strong> that <strong>you</strong> will enjoy. The longhouse meets again on Friday September 16 th at theYMCA at 7:30 pm, <strong>everyone</strong> is welcome and encouraged to attend. Please review the listing ofevents, find the events that are being hosted by <strong>you</strong>r tribe that <strong>you</strong> want to lead or support. Signup for the event on Facebook or call <strong>you</strong>r chief to discuss. We are looking for members to leadevents as <strong>well</strong> as assist as helpers. Starting <strong>this</strong> year, if we don’t have enough volunteers then wewill be forced to make assignments, assignments will be made at the longhouse meeting in October.This year the open gym night has been replaced with a short series of traditional meetings at theYMCA. The first meeting in October will include a Fire Ceremony to welcome new members into thetribes.Promotions:Apache Chief: Joseph Thomas has accepted the role of Apache Chief, a big Heap Pow to Joe forstepping up and helping out the Y Guides program. Joseph has also accepted the position of treasurerso please thank him for stepping in to help us all out.Trailblazers, Joe Ritter has accepted the role of Trailblazers Chief, Thanks Joe, I know that the TB’sare in good hands with Joe at the helm. Thanks for lending a hand!Seneca, <strong>you</strong> are without a chief. Joe Walko has informed the longhouse that he will not be able tocontinue as chief. So it is time for one of the existing Seneca tribe members to step up and fulfill <strong>this</strong>need. Your son will be very excited, ask him. Contact Mike Kane if <strong>you</strong> are able to do <strong>this</strong>.Facebook: We will be using facebook to reach out and stay connected, search for us as: Y GuidesPittsburgh. One <strong>you</strong> locate the group, like the page, then I will invite <strong>you</strong> to be a member of thatgroup. The benefits of facebook: A central location to find event information, sign up to help out. Aplace to converse with others about <strong>this</strong> program.Buddy System: New members will be assigned to a buddy family. The goal is to have someoneshow the new family the ropes for the first 6 months in the program.Open House at <strong>you</strong>r elementary school: Once again we are looking for vollenteers to representY-Guides at <strong>you</strong>r son’s elementary school. Without recruiting we will not maintain ourmembership, please consider <strong>this</strong> a vital part of <strong>you</strong>r membership.
