EXECUTIVE COUNCIL MEMBERMessage from theMember of theExecutive CouncilOn behalf of the Free State Province, I would like to extend a warm welcome to the President of DMISA, theExecutive Committee, Council, speakers and delegates to the Disaster Management Institute of Southern Africa'sConference 2013.We, the Province's leadership, are delighted that this conference is being hosted in the City of Roses. Ourconference venue, here in the Mangaung Metropolitan Municipality, is the ideal location for a conference of thisstature. With the summer arriving and with it the potential for localised floods and other disasters, this conferencewill assist and make the residents of the province aware of the need to reduce their disaster risk.It is only through consistent evaluation of disaster risks that one can plan for mitigation and preparedness in orderto reduce disaster risk and increase resilience to disasters.
