HMH remarked <strong>the</strong>re should beno difficulty with this, provided that <strong>the</strong> criteria for eligibility had been correctly observed, but that <strong>the</strong> candidateshould be informed <strong>of</strong> her right <strong>of</strong> appeal to <strong>the</strong> Electoral and Membership Commission.BR said that current projects included <strong>the</strong> publication <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Proceedings <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Paris Congress in Spanish, twosymposia and a travelling exhibition, organised in partnership with R. Pineho. She also raised <strong>the</strong> possibility <strong>of</strong>mounting an exhibition <strong>of</strong> young Latin American artists in collaboration with <strong>AICA</strong> International in 2009, alongsimilar lines to <strong>the</strong> EEYA project. Finally, she congratulated <strong>the</strong> Bureau for securing funds from <strong>the</strong> Getty.- Sweden: Sophie Allgårdh mentioned <strong>the</strong> work that had gone into producing two publications.- Suisse: Samuel Herzog reported that <strong>the</strong> Section had organised a symposium on ways <strong>of</strong> exhibiting localartists and a workshop within <strong>the</strong> framework <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> A<strong>the</strong>ns Biennale.- Finland: Lars Saari said that <strong>the</strong> Section had organised a seminar in Helsinki in <strong>the</strong> current year and wouldorganise a seminar on architectural critics, <strong>the</strong> following year.- Catalonia: Pilar Parcerisas referred to <strong>the</strong> fact that all <strong>the</strong> Section’s activities, such as symposia and prizes,were fully reported on <strong>the</strong> Section’s website and had involved a great many people, overall.- USA: Phyllis Braff said that <strong>the</strong> US Section was highly active, especially on <strong>the</strong> educational front. Amongmany o<strong>the</strong>r things, it had organised a panel discussion on <strong>the</strong> new opportunism in art criticism.- Croatia: Goran Blagus said that <strong>the</strong> Section had brought out three publications and confirmed that it wouldpay its members’ subscriptions before <strong>the</strong> end <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> year.- Germany: Hajo Schiff mentioned that <strong>the</strong> Section was in a state <strong>of</strong> suspended animation, owing to an <strong>of</strong>ficemove. A shortage <strong>of</strong> funding had led to <strong>the</strong> cancellation <strong>of</strong> a number <strong>of</strong> projects.- Mexico (Argelia Castillo) : During <strong>the</strong> year 2007, <strong>the</strong> <strong>AICA</strong> Mexican chapter has been involved in two tasks :<strong>the</strong> increasing <strong>of</strong> its members, and <strong>the</strong> organisation <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Days <strong>of</strong> Art Criticism, an event that took place onSeptember 6 & 7. The goals <strong>of</strong> this manifestation have been to give a better audience to our association in <strong>the</strong>country, and to emphasize <strong>the</strong> different aspects <strong>of</strong> art criticism, through its links with artistic <strong>the</strong>oretical andmethodological teaching.- United Kingdom: HMH reported that <strong>the</strong> Section was undergoing a revival, after a number <strong>of</strong> difficult years. Ithad organised a number <strong>of</strong> special visits to exhibitions, including one at <strong>the</strong> Queen’s Gallery and had onceagain awarded <strong>the</strong> Bernard Denvir Prize for <strong>the</strong> best piece <strong>of</strong> critical writing- France: Jacques Leenhardt reminded members <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> existence <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Archive de la critique d’art atChâteaugiron, near Rennes, which was not confined to French members or French language documents andpublications alone. He also stressed <strong>the</strong> importance <strong>of</strong> preserving <strong>the</strong>re an archival memory <strong>of</strong> <strong>AICA</strong>’sactivities.Slovenia : Brane Kovic said that <strong>the</strong> Section had now secured <strong>the</strong> funding to enable it to go ahead withpublishing <strong>the</strong> Proceedings <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> 2005 Congress. Work had reached <strong>the</strong> pro<strong>of</strong>-reading stage, and he hopedthat <strong>the</strong> publication would appear in November.6. VariaHMH informed <strong>the</strong> Board that a memorial service for Denis Bowen would be held at St. James’s Piccadilly,later in <strong>the</strong> month. Information about this could be found on <strong>the</strong> <strong>AICA</strong> website.Phyllis Braff announced that Kim Levin seemed to be on <strong>the</strong> path to recovery, and Sophie Allgårdh confirmedthis, as she was currently preparing a contribution to her magazine.HMH announced that <strong>the</strong> new cards and stickers would be sent out after <strong>the</strong> Congress, along with <strong>the</strong> relevantinvoices. As already established <strong>the</strong> previous year, Sections now had to complete and send <strong>the</strong> Paris <strong>of</strong>fice anannual financial return, listing <strong>the</strong> names <strong>of</strong> all members and reconciling <strong>the</strong> membership fees sent to Pariswith <strong>the</strong> number <strong>of</strong> stickers distributed or returned, unused, at <strong>the</strong> end <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> financial year. He remindedSections that this new procedure was a response to <strong>the</strong> new requirement to make stickers strictly accountable.RTB gave a quick relate <strong>of</strong> UNESCO’s invitation to <strong>AICA</strong> to contribute to its Network <strong>of</strong> Creative Cities and leftout copies <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> relevant documentation for any members <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Board who might be interested in finding outmore about this, or contributing to <strong>the</strong> project.
