Hollywood Casino Celebrates
Hollywood Casino celebrated
its fifteenth year on June 17,
2008. Over the years
Hollywood Casino and City of
Aurora have enjoyed a great
relationship. The synergy has been
good for the downtown business
sector, spawning revitalization and
growth. The casino is a great place
for Aurorans and visitors to enjoy
themselves. Since its opening,
Hollywood Casino has anchored
Aurora’s downtown redevelopment.
Stepping out of the heat of a
warm summer day, into the cool of
Aurora’s Hollywood Casino is an
amazing feeling. The reference
to “cool” describes both the
temperature and ambiance of
the casino.
Located in downtown Aurora,
the riverboat is docked on the Fox
River. The visually stunning
marquee, symbolizes the endeavor
launched by business leaders, elected
officials and Aurorans, to invest in
the revitalization of Aurora’s
downtown. The casino and
beautifully restored Paramount
Theatre are the linchpins in Aurora’s
arts, culture and entertainment
district.
Aside from the colossal
entertainment value, Hollywood
Casino is a key player in Aurora’s
growth. From its revenue, the casino
has provided approximately
$160,000,000 to the City of Aurora,
of which, approximately $600,000,
has been distributed to each of the

At one time, the casino employed
1,700 people. Its workforce
represents Aurora’s diverse
population and its management staff
is comprised of 50% minorities.
Patt Medchill has worked in the
gaming industry since 1971 and is
celebrating his fifteenth year with
Hollywood Casino. Medchill is the
quintessential spokesperson for the
casino. He is that rare individual
who is highly skilled and confident,
but noticeably humble. Yet, the
thing that most stands out about
Medchill, is how well-suited he is to
the ultra-cool environment.
Medchill is a proven leader and
enthusiastic advocate for the City of
Aurora. He is consistently at the

and opportunity. From the
beginning, Medchill has thought of
the casino, as one, of the numerous
players working toward the city’s
plan for progress and expansion. His
dedication and commitment to the
