Facilitating the workshopThe role of the facilitator is to support participantsin learning together, staying on task and completingthe workshop activities in the time allotted.Where possible, use a large room with seatingarranged in a circle so that all participants can haveeye contact. Tables can be available around theedges of the room for small group work, althoughworking on the floor is acceptable to most groups.The learning outcomes and agenda for the sessionshould be prominently displayed in the working area,preferably on flipchart rather than electronically, sothat they can be referred to whenever necessary. Atthe end of each activity the group can be asked tocomment on which objectives have been addressed.This will help to ensure that participants stayfocussed on the overall aim rather than the specificqualities of a single activity. Evaluation of individualactivities should be integral to the debriefing at theend of the activity rather than reserved to the endof the session.
