Media Rele<strong>as</strong>e14 September 2011 <strong>Leighton</strong> <strong>appoints</strong> <strong>Bruce</strong> <strong>Munro</strong> <strong>as</strong> <strong>Managing</strong><strong>Director</strong> <strong>of</strong> Thiess<strong>Leighton</strong> Holdings Limited is ple<strong>as</strong>ed to announce the appointment <strong>of</strong> Mr <strong>Bruce</strong> <strong>Munro</strong> to theposition <strong>of</strong> <strong>Managing</strong> <strong>Director</strong> <strong>of</strong> its wholly owned subsidiary Thiess Pty Ltd.Mr <strong>Munro</strong> h<strong>as</strong> been acting in the role since August 2011 and h<strong>as</strong> previously held a number <strong>of</strong>senior positions within Thiess including Chief Executive Mining and Executive General ManagerAsia, where he focused on Thiess’ growing Asian interests and in particular, opportunities in India.<strong>Leighton</strong> Holdings Chief Executive Officer, Mr Hamish Tyrwhitt, said Mr <strong>Munro</strong> w<strong>as</strong> an excellentchoice for the role given his knowledge <strong>of</strong> the company and his strong track record in runningcomplex businesses both in Australia and across Asia."<strong>Bruce</strong> is a highly experienced, long serving Thiess Executive who h<strong>as</strong> the determination and driveto successfully take Thiess forward while dealing with the challenges we face,” Mr Tyrwhitt said."<strong>Bruce</strong> brings with him a strong focus on risk management in the delivery <strong>of</strong> large projects and hewill be an excellent addition to the broader <strong>Leighton</strong> Group Executive,” said Mr Tyrwhitt.Mr <strong>Munro</strong> started his 25-year career with Thiess <strong>as</strong> a Project Manager with the company’sconstruction business in Indonesia before being appointed Country Manager for Vietnam,Cambodia and Laos and he served <strong>as</strong> President <strong>Director</strong> Indonesia for 8 years.
