PCA Meeting Minutes 12/14/11 - Woodlynde School

‘08 will receive the Community Patron Award; Dean of Students DaveShank will receive the Head of School Award.As plans stand now, there will be no large-scale silent auction at the Gala.A tribute book is planned instead. This book will give sponsors and alumnian opportunity to take out tribute ads. Traditional Woodlynde auctionitems, such as parking spaces and baskets, will be included in theevening. The decision has yet to be made whether these will be silent orlive auction items.Finally, Lisa closed her report by asking everyone to please support theAnnual Fund. The goal this year is $350,000.PAST EVENTS RECAPParent-Teacher Conference Refreshments: Everyone received greatfeedback from parents on the refreshments. The PCA plans to continue toprovide this service. Margie and Diane thanked Merraine Rein fororganizing the event.Olweus Presentation: The presentation was very well received and thespeakers were excellent. The presentation by school guidancecounselors Sarah Rohleder and Tracey Szmajda sparked a lively questionand answer session, which highlighted the great concern the subject ofbullying holds for parents.Literacy Week: Diane and Margie thanked Diane Bruckner for theoutstanding job she did in organizing and running the Book Fair. She inturn thanked all who helped her, especially Renee Reilly. The Book Fairwas successful both financially and socially. The lack of a café night didnot have a significant impact on the financial outcome of the fair. MarybethBroderick emphasized that Diane Bruckner did a magnificent job ofkeeping popular books stocked and that the Book Fair had just the rightmix of books and “other stuff”. Due to popular demand, the teacher wishlist will be reinstated next year.4
