Toys designed with strikingcolours, curious shapes and interesting texturesstimulate infants’ senses. Those which producesound also promote sensory development. Oncechildren learn to speak, treat them to smallrecording toys which play back their own voiceby simply pressing record and playback buttons.Kids from 3 to 6 years old are keen on actinglike adults. They are capable of more complexinteraction with other with people and understanddifferent roles in society. This age group enjoysplaying with a doctor’s instrument set, ahandyman’s tool kit, a cooking set, a shopkeeper’swares or a play house.What kinds of toys inspirechildren’s creativity?Play dough and drawingmaterials nurture children’s creativity. Kids will amazeyou with their unique and creative expressions of howthey see the world.What kinds of toys aid children’sintellectual and physical development?Problem-solving toys challenge children’s intelligence,training their minds in the problem-solving process.For physical development, there are plenty of goodball games!Oh my God! My boy likes Barbie dolls!Don’t worry! There is nothing wrong with little boysplaying with Barbie dolls. In fact, there is no formula for choosing the righttoys. The key is to consider your kid’s interests and behaviour. Little boyswho like Barbie dolls are likely to have artistic minds or be interested in mixingand matching. Possibly they are our fashion designers-to-be!What is the “best” toy for kids?Don’t over-estimate the value of a toy. It cannot be super nanny! Or,ever replace your love and care for your kids. Little ones appreciate your willingnessto spend time with them more than they love any expensive toy! Congratulations 恭 喜 您DonationThe University held its annual “HKBU – Kum Shing GroupGolf Day” on 7 December. A number of social leaders tooktime out from their busy schedules to participate in the excitingtournament. Held for the fourth time, the Golf Day successfullyraised HK$750,000 for the University Development Fund.大 學 於 十 二 月七 日 舉 行 「 香港 浸 會 大 學 •金 城 營 造 高 爾夫 球 日 」, 邀得 城 中 一 眾 工商 界 名 人 友好 、 校 友 在 百忙 中 一 同 共 享高 球 之 樂 , 並 為 大 學 發 展 基 金 籌 得 港 幣 七 十 五 萬 元 。The University has received a donation of HK$1 million fromMr. Allan Kwong in support of a research project on FoodSafety and Analysis by Dr. Jiang Yue, Assistant Professorof Faculty of Science and her research team. Their outstanding performance bested those of10 other finalist teams from Hong Kong and the Mainlandto win them the championship.
