In states like Kerala(74.33 percent) and Tamil Nadu (75.30 percent),majority of Primary school teachers are female.Andaman and Nicobar Islands (52.16 percent),Daman and Diu (84.71 percent), Goa (81.59percent), Chandigarh (80.45 percent), Delhi(69.39 percent), Punjab (64.34 percent,Puducherry (60.45 percent), Uttarakhand(54.89 percent) and Meghalaya (51.04 percent)too have a high percentage offemale teachers in its Primaryschools. On the other hand, inthe states of Arunachal Pradesh“In Kerala and TamilNadu majority of Primaryschool teachers arefemale’’In Elementary schools, the percentage offemale teachers has been a bit higher than thesame in the Primary schools (42.96 percent). Onthe other hand, the percentage of female teachersin independent Upper Primary schools has beenonly 34.05 but a few states such as Delhi (51.67percent), Goa (67.86 percent), Gujarat (55.21percent), Karnataka (51.94 percent), Kerala (68.89percent), Puducherry (55.17 percent) and TamilNadu (64.27 percent) have more female teachersin such schools than male teachers.
