Works of Mercy Service ProgramEvery student at Saint Thomas More High School is expected to conduct FIVE HOURS of service to theMilwaukee community each quarter they attend STM. This process allows for intentional growth in our servicelearning curriculum. It is each student’s initiative and responsibility to fulfill their service requirement everyquarter. The service log on the back of this sheet should be turned into the students’ Theology teacher on the final dayof each academic quarter. Each year, students must complete at least 5 hours of service in each of thespecified areas. Service must be conducted within the timeframe of the quarter. Failure to meet theserequirements will result in an INCOMPLETE in Theology for the quarter until the service requirement for thatquarter is completed.Freshmen YearFocus: Saint Thomas More Community & the Elderly 20 hours total (5 per quarter) Examples: Helping an STM teacher, going to a nursing home, helping an elderly neighbor (non-relative).Sophomore YearFocus Group(s): Saint Thomas More Community & the Poor and/or Homeless* 20 hours total (5 per quarter) Examples: Helping an STM teacher, going to a homeless shelter, helping at a soup kitchen.*Every student will attend a school provided service trip to “The Gathering” in downtown Milwaukee.Students are notified by the Director of Faith Formation when they will be serving at the Gathering.
