The Fitness Theory Course is the first step in the<br />

S.P.R.A. Fitness Leadership Certification Program.<br />

This course <strong>of</strong>fers comprehensive education about<br />

the various aspects <strong>of</strong> fitness and instruction. Topics<br />

covered include anatomy, exercise physiology,<br />

movement mechanics and exercise analysis. This<br />

course may also be <strong>of</strong> interest to coaches, trainers,<br />

and anyone else involved in sports and fitness.<br />

April 25, 26 & 27, 2008<br />

• Friday – 7:00 – 10:00 pm<br />

• Saturday – 8:30 am – 5:30 pm<br />

• Sunday – 8:30 am – 4:00 pm<br />

The Aqua Fitness Module provides fitness leaders<br />

with the knowledge to lead a safe exercise group<br />

in the water by providing effective and appropriate<br />

exercises in order to meet the needs <strong>of</strong> participants.<br />

The 16-hour course content includes water safety,<br />

leadership, program planning and design, class<br />

components, deep and shallow techniques, and<br />

practical observation/evaluation.<br />

May 2nd , 3rd & 4th , 2008<br />

• Friday – 7:00 – 10:00 pm<br />

• Saturday – 8:30 am – 5:30 pm<br />

• Sunday – 8:30 am – 2:30 pm<br />

The Group Fitness Module provides fitness<br />

leaders with the knowledge to lead a safe<br />

land exercise group by providing effective and<br />

appropriate exercises in order to meet the needs<br />

<strong>of</strong> participants. The 16-hour course covers basic<br />

principles such as program planning and design,<br />

class organization, use <strong>of</strong> music, teaching skills, and<br />

practical observation/evaluation.<br />

May 8th , 9th & 10th , 2008<br />

• Thursday – 7:00 – 10:00 pm<br />

• Friday – 8:30 am – 5:30 pm<br />

• Saturday – 8:30 am – 2:30 pm<br />

The Older Adult Exercise Module provides<br />

fitness leaders with the knowledge to lead a safe<br />

exercise group class for older adults. The 16-hour<br />

course covers changes occurring in the body as it<br />

ages, physiology <strong>of</strong> aging, nutrition, sociology <strong>of</strong><br />

aging, common disorders, risk management, and<br />

practical observation/evaluation.<br />

May 22nd , 23rd & 24th , 2008<br />

• Thursday – 7:00 – 10:00 pm<br />

• Friday – 8:30 am -5:30 pm<br />

• Saturday – 8:30 am – 5:30 pm<br />
