Implementation of the National Curriculum StatementsThe National Curriculum Statements for implementation in South African schools was phased inbetween January 2004 (Foundation Phase, Grades R-3) and January 2008 (Grade 12).Accelerated Christian Education (South Africa) has made the necessary changes and iscontinuously reviewing and updating its Learning and Teaching Support Materials (LTSMs) to ensureon-going compliance with the National Curriculum Statements and the newly introducedCurriculum Assessment Policy Statements introduced in Grade 10 in 2012.Requirements for Operating a High School:a. Teaching staff qualified to assist High School learners with PACE work in all subjects offered.Subject expert staff may be employed on a part time basis.b. Suitable facilities to teach all the high school courses your school will offer, e.g. for Science you willneed a laboratory, videos/DVDs, science equipment, including one TV/VCR combination perfive to ten high school learners, etc.c. The following are required credit courses in Grade 9:• English and Afrikaans (or any other official second language)• Biblical Studies: BNTS 97 – 108• Natural Sciences• Mathematics or Math Literacy track• Human and Social Sciences• Economic and Management Sciences• Technology• Art & Culture• Life Orientation• Student Convention (1 year attendance between Grade 9-12)d. Graduation Requirements:Learners must offer at least 7 major subjects in accordance with the requirements for the FETphase as set out in the National Curriculum Statements.
