Watch, Quarter and Station Bill
Be on the lookout this drill weekend for the Watch, Quarter, and Station Bill.
What is a Watch Quarter and Station Bill? The WQ&S Bill is used to assigned
specific jobs to personnel assigned to navy units. It also identifies where to go
or what to do during various emergencies and evolutions such as fire drills or
marching formations.
The Operations Department and specifically the Quartermaster are
responsible for updating and maintaining the WQ&S Bill. Check for your name
and see where you are supposed to be and what you are supposed to do when
the time comes. If information is incorrect on it, contact the Leading Petty
Officer, PO1 Monteleone to get it corrected. The Watch Quarter and Station Bill
will be posted inside the main hall near the Quarterdeck.
Sep. 10 th is National Naval Sea Cadet Day
Friday September 10 th is the 48 th birthday of the Naval Sea Cadet Corps.
Initially formed in 1958, the program was officially recognized and chartered by
an act of Congress in 1962. There has been an active Naval Sea Cadet unit
drilling in Phoenix since 1963. We would like to ask that all cadets show their
pride in the program by asking you to wear your dress uniform (whites / salt
and peppers) to school on that Friday. You are allowed to wear your dress
uniform anywhere you like as long as you represent yourself to the best of your
ability with the honor, courage, and commitment that goes into wearing a U.S.
Navy uniform.
You are part of a long naval tradition that dates back hundreds of years to
countries around the world. Be proud of this program and what it represents
and be able to tell people about it. It is always a good idea to be able to provide
them additional information as well. You can contact LCDR Turner for recruiting
materials and information about the program, or just some business cards with
contact information to hand to people. If you don’t have anything to give to
someone, you can always send them to the Sea Cadet website at
www.seacadets.org or our unit website at www.phoenixseacadets.org for more.
Regional Events – Navajo Nation Parade
Cadets from the Veterans Pride Battalion will be attending the Navajo Nation
Days parade again this year. They are inviting all of the cadets and staff from
our region to join them in this event. They will be meeting in the Metro Center
area on Friday Sep 10th and coming back on the 12th. They are planning on
staying at the Ganado HS gym. This is a special event. The cadets will have a
chance to see and hopefully meet Navajo Code Talkers while the few are still
around. After parade activities will most likely include hiking Canyon de Chelly
with its Navajo ruins and a glimpse of the old Navajo lifestyle still being lived in
the canyon. The parade is 5 miles long and the entire route is full of spectators
as the entire Navajo Nation from four states gather.
To give our host adequate time to prep and for us to make sure there are
enough vehicles to transport all, please RSVP NLT Sept 4th. Generally our hosts
support us by cooking but we pay our own food costs. Generally it has been 20
dollars a person. Permission slips and a Sea Bag list/POD are available from
LCDR Turner for those interested in attending. For more information and to
RSVP, contact LTJG Bob Dalpe at bobdalpe@yahoo.com no later than Labor Day.
