The increasing capacity of themunicipality to extract oil from ylang-ylang flowers createdthe challenge of marketing the product. The municipalityresponded through the following measures: In 1996, the municipality held its first every Ylang-Ylangfestival. The festival has since become an annual event. Municipal Ordinance Number 68 in 1999 adopted AROMAANAO as the brand name of the Ylang-ylang products ofthe municipality. Exhibition in various trade fairs. MAPHILINDO Trading International, Inc. is interested inacquiring no less than 100,000 Ylang-Ylang seedlings.New Product Development. With the help of othergovernment agencies like the Technical Skills andDevelopment Authority (TESDA), the LGU has beensponsoring training in the utilization of oil and waterdistillation in various products such as shampoo, soap, andcandles.Sustaining the Project. To sustain the oil extractionproject, the local government established a 686 square metermunicipal nursery in Barangay San Francisco West.Aside from the nursery, a 1.7-hectare mini-forest wasestablished in the same site where forest trees from DENRwere planted with the assistance of the Barangay Kabataan(youth villagers). The mini-forest is now planted with morethan 700 Ylang-Ylang, Narra, Acacia, Eucalyptus, Mahoganyand other trees.
