Since 1997, AsianAttractions Expo has been thepremier international tradeshow and conference for themultibillion-dollar leisure andattractions industry in Asia.“IAAPA is looking forwardto bringing Asian AttractionsExpo to China,”IAAPA Vice President, AsiaPacific Operations AndrewLee said. “The attractions industrywithin China is growingat a rapid pace with severalattractions recently completedand a number of other majoramusement parks in development,making its capital city,Beijing, a logical choice to hostAAE 2014.”“Beijing’s experienceas host to the 2008 OlympicGames, its area tourist attractions,and its history and diverseculture make it a perfectbackdrop for Asian AttractionsExpo, the attractions industry’sfastest growing tradeshow and conference in theregion,” said IAAPA Presidentand CEO Paul Noland.More than 5,000 attractionsindustry professionalsfrom more than 60 nationsare expected to participatein the event. The trade showfloor will showcase productsfrom more than 250 companiesfrom around the worldin more than 100 categories,including amusement andtheme park rides; architecturaland design services; andcoin-operated games, skillgames, and redemption prizes.Beijing is the second mostpopulated city in China, and itserves as the country’s political,educational, and culturalcenter, filled with historic sitesand government institutions.The city is home to TiananmenSquare, in DongchengDistrict, which is surroundedby such landmarks as theGreat Hall of the People, theMuseum of Chinese History,the Museum of the ChineseRevolution, the ChairmanMao Memorial Hall, and theMonument to the People’sMartyrs. The arrangementincludes developing feasiblecollaboration concepts withinthe tourism and amusementpark sectors, in addition to anemployee exchange programand other cultural and gastronomicinitiatives.The co-operative agreementprovides a platform forboth attractions to tap <strong>into</strong>each other’s experiences andstrengths. The first commonproject saw Tivoli contributeto Sentosa’s annual internationalSentosa Flowers festival,one of its award winning,signature events, which tookplace on Sentosa Island in February,on the occasion of theChinese Lunar New Year.Commenting on the arrangement,Tivoli A/S CEOLars Liebst said: “One of Tivoli’sprime objectives is to beamong Denmark’s best workplaces and with that in mind,we have established a strategicco-operation with Sentosa,one of the largest leisure andlifestyle operators in the tourismindustry.
