It was only established in 2003. The NFQ hasbeen a very important development and has assisted educational advisors in comparing andcontrasting the level and standards of different qualificationsThe NFQ is a system of ten levels. It is designed to incorporate awards made for all types of learning whereverit is gained – in schools, colleges or universities etc. The NFQ allows learners and educational advisors tocompare and contrast qualifications and to plan their education, training and career progression.It aids employers in recognising and understanding the levels and standards of qualifications, actingas a tool for indentifying ‘appropriate fit’ qualifications for specific roles.The international dimension of this development is important from an individual and an economicperspective.
