<strong>Lifesaving</strong> <strong>Society</strong><strong>Alberta</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Northwest</strong> <strong>Territories</strong><strong>First</strong> <strong>Aid</strong> Instructor TransferThank you for your interest in becoming a <strong>Lifesaving</strong> <strong>Society</strong> <strong>First</strong> <strong>Aid</strong> Instructor/Examiner. Withyour <strong>Lifesaving</strong> <strong>First</strong> <strong>Aid</strong> Instructor/Examiner award, you will be able to teach <strong>Lifesaving</strong>Emergency <strong>First</strong> <strong>Aid</strong> (LEFA), <strong>Lifesaving</strong> St<strong>and</strong>ard <strong>First</strong> <strong>Aid</strong> (LSFA), Oxygen Administration <strong>and</strong><strong>Lifesaving</strong> CPR-A, CPR-B, <strong>and</strong> CPR-C. It also provides you with an opportunity to become anAquatic Emergency Care (AEC) Instructor/Examiner if you so choose. AEC is a st<strong>and</strong>ard firstaid with focus on rescues in an aquatic environment. If you choose to become an AECInstructor/Examiner, you must hold the AEC award <strong>and</strong> co-instruct an AEC course. The<strong>Lifesaving</strong> <strong>Society</strong>’s <strong>First</strong> <strong>Aid</strong> awards are recognized for first aid in the workplace by:• <strong>Alberta</strong> Workplace Health <strong>and</strong> Safety,• Workmen’s Compensation Board - <strong>Northwest</strong> <strong>Territories</strong> <strong>and</strong> Nunavut,• Ontario Workplace Safety <strong>and</strong> Insurance Board,• Health Canada, <strong>and</strong>• Human Resources Development Canada.The process to become a <strong>Lifesaving</strong> <strong>First</strong> <strong>Aid</strong> Instructor is straightforward. Simply apply,purchase materials <strong>and</strong> pay certification fees, <strong>and</strong> successfully complete the requiredassignments.ApplicationTo apply, simply fill out the attached application form complete with your current contactinformation <strong>and</strong> submit the form to the <strong>Lifesaving</strong> <strong>Society</strong> along with proof of current <strong>First</strong> <strong>Aid</strong>Instructor status from a Workplace Health <strong>and</strong> Safety (WHS) approved agency. You must haveattended a CPR Guidelines update with your approved agency, the Heart <strong>and</strong> StrokeFoundation of Canada, or the <strong>Lifesaving</strong> <strong>Society</strong>. DO NOT SEND FEES AT THIS TIME.Fees <strong>and</strong> MaterialsUpon approval of your application, the <strong>Lifesaving</strong> <strong>Society</strong> will send you confirmation <strong>and</strong> theterms of your assignments. If you agree with the terms of your assignments, please send$97.50 payable to the <strong>Lifesaving</strong> <strong>Society</strong> to receive your materials. Your payment covers theinstructor transfer fee ($45.00) <strong>and</strong> the <strong>Lifesaving</strong> <strong>First</strong> <strong>Aid</strong> Instructor/Examiner package ($50 +$2.50 GST = $52.50). The <strong>Lifesaving</strong> <strong>First</strong> <strong>Aid</strong> Instructor/Examiner package includes aninstructor manual, a c<strong>and</strong>idate manual, <strong>Society</strong> orientation information, <strong>and</strong> your writtenassignment. Upon successful completion of your assignments, you will receive your <strong>Lifesaving</strong><strong>First</strong> <strong>Aid</strong> Instructor/Examiner award that is current for 2 years from the date of certification.1.
