Withyour Lifesaving First Aid Instructor/Examiner award, you will be able to teach LifesavingEmergency First Aid (LEFA), Lifesaving Standard First Aid (LSFA), Oxygen Administration andLifesaving CPR-A, CPR-B, and CPR-C. It also provides you with an opportunity to become anAquatic Emergency Care (AEC) Instructor/Examiner if you so choose. AEC is a standard firstaid with focus on rescues in an aquatic environment. If you choose to become an AECInstructor/Examiner, you must hold the AEC award and co-instruct an AEC course. TheLifesaving Society’s First Aid awards are recognized for first aid in the workplace by:• Alberta Workplace Health and Safety,• Workmen’s Compensation Board - Northwest Territories and Nunavut,• Ontario Workplace Safety and Insurance Board,• Health Canada, and• Human Resources Development Canada.The process to become a Lifesaving First Aid Instructor is straightforward. Simply apply,purchase materials and pay certification fees, and successfully complete the requiredassignments.ApplicationTo apply, simply fill out the attached application form complete with your current contactinformation and submit the form to the Lifesaving Society along with proof of current First AidInstructor status from a Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) approved agency. You must haveattended a CPR Guidelines update with your approved agency, the Heart and StrokeFoundation of Canada, or the Lifesaving Society. DO NOT SEND FEES AT THIS TIME.Fees and MaterialsUpon approval of your application, the Lifesaving Society will send you confirmation and theterms of your assignments. If you agree with the terms of your assignments, please send$97.50 payable to the Lifesaving Society to receive your materials. Your payment covers theinstructor transfer fee ($45.00) and the Lifesaving First Aid Instructor/Examiner package ($50 +$2.50 GST = $52.50). The Lifesaving First Aid Instructor/Examiner package includes aninstructor manual, a candidate manual, Society orientation information, and your writtenassignment. Upon successful completion of your assignments, you will receive your LifesavingFirst Aid Instructor/Examiner award that is current for 2 years from the date of certification.1. Current First Aid Instructors with other WHS approved agencies with SFA/EFA course(see agency list on WHS website -http://www3.gov.ab.ca/hre/whs/courses/firstaid_course.asp):• Explore the Lifesaving First Aid Instructor/Examiner package• Co-Instruct a LEFA or LSFA course with an existing Lifesaving Society First AidInstructor/Examiner and submit the co evaluation form• Submit candidate course evaluations with the first LEFA or LSFA course you teach onyour own• All assignments must be completed within 6 months of shipment of instructor package3.
